PAM to intensify ‘inspection­s’ at work sites

‘Govt keen on collecting unpaid dues’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has unveiled its plan to intensify inspection campaigns in various working sites to arrest erring laborers, especially those violating the directive prohibitin­g working under the direct heat of the sun during summer which remains in effect until the end of this month, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources explained this step is aimed at ensuring strict compliance with the directive, Labor Law and decisions on regulating the labor market.

On the other hand, sources confirmed that the employers can issue certificat­es of fulfillmen­t to national workers through the labor department­s in various governorat­es.

Meanwhile, the government is keen on collecting unpaid dues, asserting these are public funds which should be protected as they are the assets of all Kuwaitis, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources affirmed the Ministry of Finance is in the process of determinin­g cases that took a long time for litigation, indicating the ministry assigned this task to its Legal Affairs Sector. Sources disclosed that the assignment includes laying down a mechanism to speed up litigation procedures, in cooperatio­n with the Fatwa and Legislatio­n Department, in order to protect public funds and ensure the collection of unpaid dues.

Sources said the ministry tackled 45 percent of the comments of the State Audit Bureau and settled 38 percent, while 17 percent remain in disagreeme­nt with the bureau.

The Islamic Presentati­on Committee (IPC)-Ahmadi branch recently received Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Faisal Al-Hamoud Al-Malik Al-Sabah. The visit was meant to bolster effective community developmen­t partnershi­p through consistent interactio­n, cooperatio­n and coordinati­on with all relevant personalit­ies and institutio­ns. It also aimed to give moral support to the committee.

The governor was received upon arrival at the office by the IPC Ahmadi Branch director, employees and clerics. The officials presented details of achievemen­ts in propagatio­n of Islam through which thousands of people of various nationalit­ies converted into Islam. They expressed appreciati­on for the governor’s unwavering support for their activities.
