KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: Director of Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdullah Al-Hamdan disclosed that the ministry is coordinating with its Interior counterpart regarding violations in collecting donations for animal sacrifice.

He said 59 charities participated in donation campaigns for this purpose, indicating the data of an erring institution or individual are usually referred to the Ministry of Interior for legal action. He added that in case a person is found to be collecting donations individually, the relevant legal measures will be taken against him.

He revealed the Ministry of Social Affairs has been receiving applications for licenses to collect donations for animal sacrifice since April 2019. He said the number of charities implementing the project in Kuwait reached 37 and 22 in other countries.

He also called on the participating bodies to strictly comply with regulations, urging them not to publish advertisements for collecting donations in order to avoid legal consequences.

Meanwhile, Al-Hamdan confirmed that Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Development and acting Assistant Undersecretary for Social Care Abdulaziz Sari Al-Mutairi will visit the Social Care Complex in Sulaibikhat on the first day of Eid Al-Adha on behalf of Social Affairs Minister Sa’ad Al-Kharaz during which he will distribute prizes to the guests.
