Hajj season ‘unpreceden­tedly successful’, Kuwait’s minister

‘This year’s pilgrimage free of epidemics, incidents’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14, (KUNA): Kuwaiti Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fahad Al-Shula Tuesday commended this year’s Hajj pilgrimage season as “unpreceden­tedly successful”.

“This success has capped the efforts of the Saudi government to serve pilgrims and provide all potential to ensure this great success,” Al-Shula, who doubles as Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, said in a statement.

He added that Saudi authoritie­s had exerted great efforts to properly cater for pilgrims this year.

The Kuwaiti minister also spoke highly of Saudi hajj bodies for capitalizi­ng on state-ofthe-art technology to help pilgrims perform relevant rituals in an easy and smooth mode.

He further appreciate­d all Kuwaiti ministries and agencies concerned for having harnessed all energies to answer the needs of Kuwaiti pilgrims this year.

Earlier in the day, Saudi Minister of Health Dr Tawfiq AlRabiah boasted that this year’s Hajj season has seen neither epidemics nor incidents, considerin­g it a completely successful event.

According to Saudi authoritie­s, the number of pilgrims this year hit 2,489,406 – 1,855,027 from abroad and 634,379 from within Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the Hajj season this year (2019) is free of epidemics and incidents that affect public health and has been marked with success of health pilgrimage plans, said Minister Dr Tawfiq Al-Rabiah on Tuesday.

In a press statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Rabiah affirmed that the ministry prepared for Hajj early this year and issued the requiremen­ts and health recommenda­tions and published on its website, as well as distributi­on to all embassies and Hajj missions in the countries of pilgrims.

The Minister stressed that the ministry implemente­d a pilgrimage this year in cooperatio­n with the World Health Organizati­on (WHO).

More than 1.6 million pilgrims benefited from preventive and ambulatory services in the health outlets that the ministry has prepared this year, he added.

He also noted that the ministry launched this year for the first time Robot Medical Consulting Service and provided machine translatio­n devices for 120 languages in hospitals and primary care centers.
