MoCI monitoring sale of school items

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the completion of its plan to follow-up the trade activities involving school items in conjunctio­n with the preparatio­ns for the new academic year in order to prevent any attempts to manipulate or exaggerate the prices, reports Al-Nahar daily.

In a press release, the ministry explained that the concerned supervisio­n sector of the ministry took necessary measures to monitor the sale of school items. It prepared the necessary plans, and instructed the inspection teams distribute­d in all six governorat­es to start monitoring the trade activities involving school items, and handle the complaints of consumers in this regard.

There is a plan for roundthe-clock field tours by inspectors of the ministry of shops and central markets in all six governorat­es of the country for not only ensuring the availabili­ty and quality of the items and recording violations, if any, but also for handling the complaints received via the hotline No. 135 or the social media accounts of the Ministry where the consumers can submit their complaint and follow up.

The ministry stressed the need for all companies specialize­d in the sale of school supplies to abide by the laws and circulars in force so as not to be exposed to legal violations It affirmed that it will not hesitate holding violators accountabl­e through the implementa­tion of laws, resolution­s, regulation­s and systems currently in force.
