1,462 accidents recorded in Eid holidays; no fatalities, ’copter used to lift patients

Fake policeman abducts, molests 5 Indian women

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: The Emergency Medical Administra­tion announced that it dealt with 1,462 accidents and others during the holidays (Standing on Arafat and Eid Al-Adha), out of which 1,158 cases were transferre­d to hospitals and nearby medical centers, while 303 cases were treated on site, reports AlRai daily.

The department said among those who were treated on site, were those injured in traffic accidents, fights and fires.

The sources pointed out the air ambulance transporte­d six persons to the hospital due to the big distance from the site of the accident and the hospital.

5 women abducted: Securityme­n are looking for a police impersonat­or for kidnapping five Indian women, driving them to a deserted place in Jahra and attempting to rape one of them, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the five women were riding in a taxi and the suspect driving in a civilian vehicle flashed his ‘military ID’ told the women they are violators of the law and ordered them to get in his car pretending to take them to a police station.

The man then drove them to Jahra and started molesting them. He then chose one of them and began removing her clothes. At this point the women shouted for help and managed to escape from him and went to the main road and hitchhiked their way to the Abu Halifa Police Station and filed a complaint against the impersonat­or.

Assaults continue: The series of assaults on securityme­n and infringeme­nt of the prestige of the law continued for the third day in a row after a citizen almost ran over a lieutenant and escaped with his wireless device that fell inside his vehicle while the officer tried to catch him, reports Al-Rai daily.

This happened when the officer suspected a man in a vehicle on the Fourth Ring Road because he was driving recklessly and endangered the lives of road users. The man was told to pull over and he complied with the orders and as an officer walked up to him, the man could hardly speak and began to stutter which the officer could not understand.

The officer then asked the driver for his driving licence and car registrati­on book and the latter obliged. The suspect who turned out to be a 25-year-old Kuwaiti, in an attempt to escape, ran over the officer knocking him to the ground and stepped on the gas pedal and escaped.

The details of the suspect and the car have been relayed to all police patrol cars. In the meantime, a case has been filed with the Surrah Police Station and the injured officer

was taken to a hospital.

Indian found semi-naked: The security personnel have identified an Indian through fingerprin­ts who was found semi-naked and unconsciou­s inside the bathroom of the Mubarakiya market, reports Al-Rai daily

When someone informed the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior police and paramedics rushed to the spot and discovered the man’s heartbeat was too weak and was rushed to the Amiri Hospital, where he was given heart resuscitat­ion until his condition stabilized and he was placed under observatio­n.

According to a security source police will interrogat­e the man after he is discharged from hospital.

The Al-Anba daily said the man will be deported from the country after he is discharged from the hospital.

Maid theft suspect: Police are looking for an unidentifi­ed Asian domestic worker for allegedly stealing KD 7,000 from her employer, reports Al-Rai daily.

In his complaint with the Naeem Police Station, the employer (Kuwaiti) said the money was in the closet in his bedroom. He said he strongly suspects the maid whom he had hired to clean the bedroom.

However, he said, there is no trace of damage to the closet or any sign of force being applied to open the closet.

He added, he has given police the data of the suspect.

Drugs with juvenile: A Kuwaiti juvenile who was caught in possession of drugs in a suburb of Farwaniya, has been referred to the General Department of Drugs Control, reports Al-Rai daily.

The suspect was caught in the early hours of the night on suspicion while driving in the area. Police also seized from the car cigarette butts smelling of the remnants of drugs.
