Al-Rahma Al-Alamiya to mark Int’l Day of Charity

Kuwait occupies top place in charity work

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: On the occasion of the upcoming Internatio­nal Day of Charity, Assistant Secretary-General for Sectors Affairs at Al-Rahma Al-Alamiya Fahad Al-Shammeri said such an occasion affirms the importance of exerting more efforts in the field of charity in order to remedy the consequenc­es of disasters that have negatively affected about 130 million individual­s around the world.

In a press release, Al-Shammeri revealed that the celebratio­n of the occasion this year will be s titled “Role of women in charity work”, stressing that this is an opportunit­y to highlight the important role of women in humanitari­an and charity work.

He stressed that the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah towards Kuwaiti women in all fields is based on his trust in their capabiliti­es and their important role especially in volunteeri­ng and charity works.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the internatio­nal day for charitable work to be celebrated on Aug 19, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Najat Charity Society Dr Rashid Al-Hamad said Kuwait occupies a top place in the world in terms of charity work.

Dr Al-Hamad commended the efforts exerted by HH the Amir in performing charity works in different parts of the world. He added that AlNajat Charity Society has been conducting its mission for over 40 years by promoting education, supporting students from different nationalit­ies, as well as rescue and medical services, and providing for needy families.
