‘Egyptian President’s visit to Kuwait of great importance’
‘Arab, Islamic world facing challenges’
CAIRO, Aug 31, (KUNA): Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Kuwait is of great importance due to the great challenges facing the Arab and Islamic worlds and the importance of joint Arab action, a report said Saturday.
The Middle East News Agency (MENA) said in a lengthy report that the visit is of such importance in the face of threats to the future of the region, which require work to promote common interests in various fields.
The agency pointed to the “strong and historic” relations between the two countries, which have become stronger and firm under the patronage of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
It explained that President El Sisi’s visit to Kuwait on Saturday, which is his third since assuming the presidency in June 2014, aims to promote bilateral cooperation in all areas of joint work in order to strengthen the historical and growing cooperation relations between the two countries and peoples in various vital areas.
The Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations, which are rooted in the history of the two countries, are “a role model in international relations,” the agency said, pointing out that Egypt always affirms its support and stands beside everything that would achieve Kuwait’s security and stability politically, economically and militarily.
It added that Kuwait, in return, always affirms its full support for Egypt in various situations and crises, noting Kuwait’s supportive stance with Egypt in the face of the June 1967 aggression and the October 1973 war and finally in supporting the will of the Egyptian people in the revolution of June 30, 2013.
It pointed out that the relations between the two countries began to grow steadily since the establishment of official diplomatic relations between Egypt and Kuwait following the formal declaration of Kuwait’s independence in 1961 and under political coordination between the two brotherly countries at the highest levels.
It noted that the joint relations at the popular level started early through the “historical role” of the Egyptian educational missions in Kuwait during the forties of the last century and its contribution in building the age of enlightenment and development renaissance and the establishment of the scientific base in Kuwait.
The agency said relations between the two countries have varied in various fields of culture extending to cooperation in sports ties as well as on the legal level with the participation of senior Egyptian constitutional judges.
