‘Academy of arts, media is great incubator to boost youth talent’

Kuwait oil exports to Japan on rise

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1, (KUNA): Director General of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Youth (PAY) Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutairi confirmed that the project of the Academy of Arts and Media for Youth will be a youth incubator that nurture young talents, train them and develop their capabiliti­es through the fields of media and art works.

Al-Mutairi made his remarks on Sunday after chairing a meeting of the Academy Board of Trustees.

He added that the Academy project, which will be launched next October, will be a media technical center to develop the abilities and skills of Kuwaiti youth in the fields of art and media

He explained that training and practical curricula have been prepared by specialist­s to enhance the cultural, heritage and social values and the vision of (New Kuwait 2035) ) through the fields of arts and media.

He pointed out that the Board of Trustees of the Academy, which includes a group of academics and distinguis­hed specialist­s will oversee the implementa­tion of the project.

Al-Mutairi pointed out that the Authority will start receiving applicatio­ns from youths between the ages of 18 and 34 years, adding that registrati­on will be through the Authority’s website (www.ypa.gov.kw) as of mid-September in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Oil exports jump:

Kuwait’s crude oil exports to Japan edged up 0.6 percent in July from a year earlier to 6.74 million barrels, or 217,000 barrels per day (bpd), for the sixth consecutiv­e monthly expansion, government data showed Friday.

As Japan’s fourth-biggest oil provider, Kuwait supplied 7.1 percent of its total crude imports, compared with 7.4 percent in the same month of last year, the Japanese Natural Resources and Energy Agency said in a preliminar­y report.

Japan’s overall imports of crude oil grew 4.8 percent year-on-year to 3.1 million bpd, up for the third consecutiv­e month. Shipments from the Middle East accounted for 86.9 percent of the total, down 1.9 percentage points from the year before.

Saudi Arabia overtook the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to return to be Japan’s No.1 oil supplier, with imports from the kingdom rising 3.1 percent from a year earlier to 1.02 million bpd, followed by the UAE with 911,000 bpd, up 13.6 percent. Qatar ranked third with 299,000 bpd and Russia fifth with 162,000 bpd, respective­ly.

Japan is the world’s-third biggest oil consumer after China and the US, relying on imports for virtually all of its oil, gas and coal.
