‘Compulsory retirement crime against country’

- e-mail: habibi.enta1@gmail.com By Ahmad Alsarraf

Iam 75 years old, or almost, but without exaggeration I never had such a feeling that I am fully aware of what is going around me. I enjoy my life like never before.

I really would not involve the reader in my personal life if the following two things had not happened. First, I recently went through a research which was published in 2018 in the New England Journal of Medicine which goes like this.

The international companies do not hesitate to employ those who are 50 years and above in senior positions because these companies believe they are more productive than those below 50. The intense American study also showed that the most productive age for men and women is between 60 and 70. The next stage in the order of preference is 70 and 80. This applies to me personally, so I’m in my late years of productivity, and the countdown has begun, but I will keep working.

The third stage in terms of productivity is between 50 and 60. Other interesting data in the report shows the average age of the prestigious Nobel Prize winners is 62. The average age

of the CEO of the world’s top 500 companies is 63, according to Fortune Magazine, and the pastors of America’s 100 largest churches are 71 years old. The Vatican popes average 76. This tells us one way or another that the best years of life are between 60 and 80. When we are in our 60s we reach the peak in productivity which stays with us until we are 80. Those between the ages of 60 and 70 or 70 and 80 are in their best years of life, and they have to know it well and achieve the best for themselves and their loved ones.

Two, it seems one of the government advisers or one of the ministers looked at this study and decided to do the opposite by issuing instructions to get rid of all employees or force them into compulsory retirement – employee who are 60 years and above or those who have served in their respective jobs for 30 years although they are at the top of their productivity phase. The reason is probably because there is pressure from some MPs – who are known to us – so that their children and those who voted for them can be hired.

Since the Civil Service Commission forbids employment in certain jobs and ministries, the government expert or minister came with the idea of getting rid of the pressure of deputies by emptying the government apparatus from its finest and most efficient elements by applying forced retirement and employing ‘boys’ who have neither knowledge nor experience or are mature enough to work in certain places and positions.

We also see incomprehensible appointments which will inevitably contribute to the deterioration of government performance because of the need to rely more on the opinion of the expatriate experts, after getting rid of the local experts who may not always have the experience but his presence would undoubtedly alleviate the pressure on him.

Compulsory retirement is a crime against them and the country and the oppressed has the right to resort to the judiciary.
