‘Provide comprehensive health care for police force like army, fire department’

‘Security personnel sacrifice lives for country’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt Gen Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah confirmed the ministry held several meetings with the concerned authorities on the implementation of the health insurance system for members of the police force, adding that the cabinet was addressed in this regard, reports Al-Anba daily.

This was the official reply of the minister, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, on the report of the Interior and Defense Committee of the National Assembly to the approval of the proposal which was submitted by MP Omar Al-Tabtabaei on the subject.

Al-Tabtabaei had suggested that believing in the important role played by the military in the Ministry of Interior, in the area of security and safety, saying the security personnel are the watchful eye of the country that never sleeps, and have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice their lives in order to serve our country and protect lives and property, yet they still lack the most basic rights in the form of comprehensive medical care for them, as is the case in most countries of the world that have established their own hospitals (police hospitals), but they do not have their own hospital like the Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital for the armed forces, and do not have health insurance to ensure medical care and treatment when they are exposed to injuries given the nature of their work.

Moreover, Al-Tabtabaei added the Ministry of Interior had also taken a decision to cancel the police hospital project from the 2017/2018 development plan and suggested that health insurance be replaced, but so far the proposal is still under implementation.

He had said, therefore, I propose to expedite the approval of the comprehensive health insurance project for military personnel in the Ministry of Interior and provide medical care for them and their families like their counterparts in the army and fire department.

Motorists jailed:

The General Traffic Department disclosed 100 reckless motorists were sentenced to imprisonment because of non-compliance with traffic laws during the first half of this year, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The sources stressed at the same time that the law is applied on all with the same measure and also stressed on the need to apply severe penalties on violators, especially with regard to the frequency of serious offenses.

The sources said those put behind bars included reckless motorists, those holding illegal road races, skipping the red traffic light and those transporting passengers.

The sources said 18 driving licenses have been withdrawn for committing serious violations – endangering lives of others through reckless driving and violating public morals.
