‘HH the Amir’s contributions boost Kuwait’s int’l standing’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9, (KUNA): The contributions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah have boosted Kuwait’s international standing, said Minister of Commerce and Industry and State Minister for Services Khaled AlRoudhan on Monday.
In a press statement, Al-Roudhan congratulated His Highness the Amir on the fifth anniversary of naming him as “Leader of Humanitarian Action” and Kuwait as “Center of Humanitarian Action” by the United Nations.
These contributions put Kuwait on the map of humanitarian action through His Highness’s effort provided for humanitarian work, as Kuwait humanitarian assistance has reached all over the world, Al-Roudhan said.
His Highness the Amir’s achievements extended to all parts of the world, earned him the title, “Leader of Humanitarian Action”, as it reflects the great role played by His Highness in the service of humanity and for pursuit of peace and stability in the world, he added.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) on Monday heaped praise on His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, saying his name has become synonymous with philanthropy.
The remarks by the Kuwaiti charity’s chairman Dr Hilal Al-Sayer come five years to the day where the United Nations honored His Highness the Amir, ultimately christening him a “Humanitarian Leader” in recognition of his immense contributions towards humanitarian causes.
He said His Highness the Amir has always espoused timely and effective aid for those less fortunate, citing Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, amongst other countries, as the beneficiaries of Kuwaiti aid.
This year has been nothing short of remarkable for KRCS in terms of the scope of aid the charity has given, he highlighted, saying the Kuwaiti people are “proud of His Highness the Amir” for his determination to rid the world of human misery.
In another development, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information has installed two booths depicting the fifth anniversary of the UN designation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as “Leader of Humanitarian Action” and Kuwait as “Center of Humanitarian Action.”
The booths were placed at the airport terminal T-4 and the commercial Mall 360, said Mesfer Al-Hayan, the director of the exhibitions at the ministry, in a statement on Monday.
The ministry is also distributing publications about the humanitarian and development role on part of His Highness, also shedding light on Kuwait’s role in offering aid to various parts of the world to help peoples afflicted with hunger, poverty and natural catastrophes.
