Engineering List, Science List declared winners
College of Eng & Petroleum, College of Science hold polls
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: The democratic activities of students in all colleges of Kuwait University for academic year 2019/2020 started on Thursday, Sept 19 at the College of Engineering and Petroleum and College of Science where student unions decorated the lobbies and buildings of the two colleges with posters and advertisements.
Outcome of the elections indicated that Engineering List won the election in the College of Engineering and Petroleum with 1,587 votes followed by Al-Mustaqilah with 1,512 votes. In the College of Science, the Science List won with 644 votes and Al-Mustaqilah came second with 321 votes.
Chairman of the Higher Electoral Committee for 2019/2020 Student Union Elections Dr Thiqal Al-Ajmi disclosed that the activities began with elections at the College of Engineering and Petroleum. He said the Deanship of Students Affairs has laid down plans to ensure smooth electoral activities throughout the university. He also mentioned various committees for administration, finance, media and security in organizing the polls.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee for Male Section at the College of Science Ibrahim Al-Failakawi disclosed that male students started voting at 8:00 am and concluded at 2:00 pm. He said the elections went well and 230 of the 797 registered students voted as at 12 noon. Chairperson of the female section Khloud Al-Yaqoub also declared that 400 of the total 2,224 students had voted by 12 noon.
