‘Adhere to national unity principles, ignore rumors’

‘Up security at ports’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: Several parliamentarians have stressed the need to adhere to national unity principles, ignore rumors, and deal wisely with the brewing crisis in the region amid lack of clear vision on the possibility of holding an emergency session or meeting in the Parliament Office to discuss the government’s preparations to counter events which could develop into war in the region, reports Al-Nahar daily.

They indicated that, so far, none of the parliamentarians submitted a request to discuss the matter, and perhaps this issue will be decided once Speaker of Parliament Marzouq Al-Ghanim returns to the country.

MP Abdul-Kareem Al-Kandari called on ministries to lay down emergency plans, intensify presence in the media, deal with security cases transparently, and prevent rumors from dominating the public scene.

MP Muhammad Al-Dalal pointed out that the people fully support the country’s security apparatus in a bid to maintain peace and security of Kuwait and its people. He urged the public to pray for peace, security and stability of the country.

MP Tala Al-Jalal said everyone should rally behind the political leadership in any measure taken in the interest of the country, shun individual or partisan interests, and obtain news or information from official sources to avoid creating unnecessary anxiety and tension in the country.

Meanwhile, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Minister of State for Services Affairs Khalid Al-Roudhan issued a decision to fortify security alert in the ports facilities to the topmost level, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a statement issued by Kuwait Ports Authority on Friday, Ministerial Decision Number 448 stipulates that the fortified security level should cover all oil and commercial ports facilities across the country.

The security alert is to protect the nation while guaranteeing safety of its territories and ports amidst the situation in the region.
