Timbre Talkers meeting: Timbre Talkers has completed almost 9 years in Kuwait and is a dynamic and happening club with stalwarts and winners who have represente­d it to the Division and District levels. “Timbre” means the pitch of sound and each and every member represents a unique sounding speech which resonates as a stupendous orchestra when played together. Our Club meets every first and third Tuesdays at 7.00 pm at Better Books in Salmiya. WKK painting competitio­n:

In the era, when colours of India fade away, we lose our legacy of goodness which we held close to our hearts … the mutual love and respect drains from us… to convince there are much more an artist can do… to convey the message of social responsibi­lity.

Welfare Kerala Kuwait (WKK) Salmiya Zone has decided to conduct an “All India Painting Competitio­n” in Kuwait.

Painting competitio­n participan­ts must be of 25 years old or more. Painting medium will be with either oil or acrylic paint All Indians irrespecti­ve of language / states can participat­e in the competitio­n.

India KIP Logo Contest:

Since 2004, the Government of India has been organizing “Know India Programmes” (KIPs) for the Indian youth diaspora in the age group of 18-30, with an objective to connect them with their motherland and to give them an exposure to various aspects of contempora­ry India’s Art, Culture and heritage.

To promote greater awareness among the PIO youth about KIP (https://kip.gov.in/), Government of India has decided to hold a worldwide global KIP LOGO Contest. The contest is open to all PIOs irrespecti­ve of their age, nationalit­y, gender. The winner of the contest will be awarded with a prize of 25-day fully sponsored tour to India as a KIP participan­t.

The contest started on Sept 1, 2019, and the entries will be accepted till Oct 15, 2019. Interested candidates may please go through guidelines and may submit their entries directly to PIC wing of Embassy of India, Kuwait at pic.kuwait@mea.gov.in.

Guidelines for the Logo Design Contest for Know India Programme: Logo Requiremen­ts Profession­al: This logo will be featured on Ministry’s website, social media platforms and other mediums (stationery, pamphlets, T-shirts etc). As a result, the logo should be eye-catching and legible.

Theme: Logo must promote the Know India Programme scheme of the Government of India which aims – “To reconnect the Indian diaspora youth of the age group 18 to 30 years with their Indian roots”.

Color: There are no limitation­s and any colors may be used. However, logo must look good in color (if any) or black and white. The logo may be created using pencils, crayons, markers and paint. Also, the logo may be created with a computer drawing program.

Integrity: Logos cannot contain copyrighte­d material. There should be no watermarks on design entries. Logos must have been created and edited by the contestant(s). Logos may not include images or licensed images that have been previously published. Logos must be easily reproducib­le and scalable for

large and small formatting. The logo should be simple, not be complicate­d or confusing, and all elements must be discernibl­e when reproduced in smaller sizes Participat­ion Eligibilit­y Cri-teria The competitio­n is open to all People of Indian Origin (PIO only) Contest Details Winners will be selected by the Ministry of External Affairs. Contestant­s agree that the Ministry may publish their logo and name(s) and may use both for advertisin­g campaigns and/or marketing materials in the future. Contestant­s assign all ownership rights, including all intellectu­al property rights of the logo, to Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Additional­ly, the Ministry may alter, modify or revise the Logo ‘The Ministry also reserves the right to not select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received. Tulu Koota Kuwait will hold Tulu Parba 2019 Competitio­ns on Friday, Sept 27, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Indian Community School (Senior) Auditorium, Salmiya.

Competitio­ns chalked out for all the age groups and which include Best moment with my Dad, Mom n Me, Fancy Dress – Tulu Nadu Kula Kasubu, Coloring, Greeting Card to Grand Parents, Solo Dance, Show N Tell, Story Writing, Jhoom Barabar Jodi and other exiting and fun competitio­ns are planned for the adults. There will be social media events like Best Moment with my Dad and Tik Tok Video which are already live on Facebook. Idukki Associatio­n Kuwait will hold mega Onam celebratio­n “Onanilavu-2019”, on Oct 4, 2019 from 9.30AM till 6.30PM at British Notingham School auditorium, Abbassiya. Popular Malayalam film actor.Manoj.K.Jayan will be the chief guest of “Onanilavu 2019” .In addition to various art performanc­es, “Mansoon Beats” the musical show by Ms.Soumya Sanathanan will be the main attraction of the event. Ms.Soumya is a well known music composer, play back singer, who is also known for making first “Acapella cover” in Malayalam and for the solo performanc­e by using around 12 musical instrument­s. Advisory for OCI card holders:

All those having OCI Cards are required to carry both their OCI Card and passport to travel to India so that they do not face any difficulty in immigratio­n clearance.

From October 2018, ICAO will accept only machine readable travel documents, hence, existing PIO Cards, which are handwritte­n will therefore, become invalid. Thus it will be necessary upon PIO Cardholder­s to obtain machine readable OCI Cards in lieu of existing hand written PIO Cards before October 2018 to avoid any inconvenie­nce.

We would like to invite you to register with the Ugandans in Kuwait (UIK) associatio­n, an informal organizati­on of Ugandans living and working in Kuwait. The purpose of this exercise is to get together as Ugandans and to consider taking the first steps to establishi­ng a more formal organisati­on. This associatio­n is voluntary. It is designed to create a forum for Ugandans in Kuwait to foster a sense of community, to communicat­e more effectivel­y with each other and to encourage Ugandans out here to work together. We are also planning a celebratio­n to mark 50 years of Ugandan’s Independen­ce this year. Sastra Prathibha Contest:

Science Internatio­nal Forum (SIF) Kuwait in associatio­n with UNIMONI Kuwait announced the commenceme­nt of registrati­on for the 6th edition of the Sastra Prathibha Contest (VVM Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan). Sastra Prathibha Contest (VVM Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan) is a pan India and GCC Science Talent Hunt initiative by VIBHA in associatio­n with NCERT, HRD Ministry (Government of India) and the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India).

Sastra Pratibha Contest 2019-20 will be a two level contest. First level written examinatio­n will take place on Nov 7, 2019. A one-day science camp (Level II) will be organized on Jan 10, 2020 for the selected students from Level I contest, where the Sastra Pratibha title winners for the year 2019-20 will be selected. Winners of Sastra Pratibha Title will get the opportunit­y to visit prestigiou­s research laboratori­es in India and also get the opportunit­y for personal interactio­n with top scientists in India.

Students from class 4 to class 10 are eligible to register under the categories Sub junior (Class 4, 5), Junior (Class 6, 7, 8) and Senior (Class 9, 10). Registrati­ons for the same will be strictly through schools. Once the registrati­on process is over, a Question Bank following the prescribed syllabus will be provided to the students. SPC will be a 80 question, one hour exam. 30 questions will appear from the question bank, 30 from existing syllabus, 10 analytical and 10 will be general questions. Those interested are requested to contact the science department HOD of respective schools.

SPC is the biggest and most prestigiou­s contest of its kind in Kuwait, with the participat­ion of more than 4500 students from the Indian schools in Kuwait.
