Kuwait Music Academy Summer Course 2019 a huge success
‘Summertime – Joy of Music’
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: Almost everyone knows the ‘Summertime’, – the everlasting hit by Georg Gershwin, and probably a majority of us like or even love it.
The summer calendar is very much in the running and so the hot and partly humid weather. However with the beginning of new scholastic year it is just the perfect time for a summary of this year’s summertime.
Not everybody is lucky enough to enjoy the long summer holidays. Mainly because it is just ‘a couple’ of weeks and it means many Kuwaitis and expatriates spend part of summer in the country, with their families, including children.
This is a source of rapidly growing popularity of various summer courses during that period. The

activities are limited because of the scorching heat, among other reasons.
As an answer that trend and social demands, many schools and institutions tried to organize summer courses, camps or other form of activities. Three years ago the Kuwait Music Academy also organized its first musical summer courses.
“This year the summer courses really very successful. The courses were conducted over a three-month period right after the schools closed in June for summer recess, July and much part of August.
Scores of participants or both sexes irrespective of their age – from preschool age to adults – joined the course and very much enjoyed playing the piano, flute and violin. Everyone enjoyed just singing and – playing music.
The soul of KMA Summer Course 2019 was our former, honorary graduate student, beneficiary of KMA scholarship, Teji Wang. She is a young lady of Chinese origin, grew up and studied in Kuwait (under the tutorship of Karol Masternak). At the moment she is studying in at the University of Pennsylvania in the US and is a member of famous Ivy League.
Miss Teji Wang was also the winner of numerous music competitions in Kuwaiti and the Gulf Region (UAE, Dubai) on piano, flute and violin (Grand Prix, Chopin Prize, the Best Female, the Most Promising) as well as holding Diplomas with Distinction on Piano and Flute of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London, UK.
These are achievements worth appreciating but Teji Wang except for some level of perfection also discovered the secret of the joy of music and the way of sharing it with listeners and pupils.
A lot of photos and records as well as Internet reaction and many participants who continue to adventure with music, say the young artiste and teacher, Teji Wang, our former student is a perfect guide for many to enter that miraculous garden of music. It confirms the sense of organizing the ‘Joy of Music’.
The KMA is happy and proud of it. The Summertime tune once more deeply conquered the hearts and imagination of participants during the KMA Summer Courses.
