NA official confirms necessity of ‘unifying’ Arab procedures
Bid to open new horizons for research, study
CAIRO, Sept 25, (KUNA): Chairman of the General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments, Secretary General of Kuwait National Assembly Allam Al-Kandari affirmed Wednesday necessity of unifying working procedures of Arab parliaments’ administrations.
Standardization of procedures “helps create a working environment that leads to a distinguished parliamentary performance and support parliament members to play their role to the fullest,” said Al-Kandari in a speech he delivered before the Seventh Annual Conference of the General Secretariat of Arab Parliaments.
He noted to a new unified practical guide for legislative drafting in Arab parliaments that was formed by a specialized committee after a year of discussions.
In his speech, he called for providing modern and accurate information that can be relied upon in making good administrative decisions at the level of Arab parliaments.
Al-Kandari expressed hope that the conference’s discussions would open new horizons for research and study and come up with important recommendations and suggestions that can be adopted in practice.
He also hoped that “constructive” cooperation with the Arab Parliamentary Training Center will play an active role on this issue.
For his part, Secretary General for Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Fayez Al-Shawabkeh stressed in a similar speech on urgent need to develop parliamentary institutional performance through development of performance of the general secretariats of Arab parliaments.
Al-Shawabkeh pointed out importance of continuing to enhance political, economic and cultural cooperation between Arab countries in order to contribute to building a joint Arab work system.
He stressed on the need to keep up with requirements of the current modern stage and meet aspirations of the Arab peoples and their national parliaments in the face of challenges and difficulties
The General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments is expected to hold a workshop on Thursday to discuss a working paper on the executive rules for administrative affairs in Arab parliaments.
