Kuwaiti FM attends meeting on Syria on sideline of UNGA
Kuwaiti, Estonian FMs discuss boosting bonds
NEW YORK, Sept 25, (KUNA): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled AlHamad Al-Sabah attended late Tuesday, on the sideline of the 74th UN General Assembly, a meeting concerning the latest developments in Syria. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled was invited to the meeting by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
The meeting discussed international efforts to ease the humanitarian pains of the Syrian people and ways to overcome the conflict.
Meanwhile, FM Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled met separately late Tuesday on the sideline of the 74th UN General Assembly with his Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Senegalese counterparts – Gedu Andargachew, Osman Saleh Mohammed, and Amadou Ba respectively.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, also Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait, discussed with the officials ways to bolster bilateral relations between Kuwait and the officials’ respective countries and also touched on the latest developments within the regional and international arenas.
Several officials, including head of Sheikh Sabah AlKhaled’s office Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative at the UN Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi,
and others, attended the meetings.
In the meantime, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled met on Tuesday with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu on margins of the UN General Assembly 74th session.
Sheikh Sabah Khaled, during the meeting, renewed the congratulation to the Estonian president on his country’s attaining a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council (2021-2020).
The two ministers discussed means of boosting relations between the two friendly countries, latest developments at the regional and international levels.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, the assistant foreign minister for the affairs of the deputy foreign minister bureau, the designated minister Nasser Abdullah Al-Hayen, the assistant foreign minister for international organizations’ affairs, the designated minister Bader Abdullah Al-Munaikh, the deputy State of Kuwait delegate the UN, and a number of ministry officials.
Also, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled attended late Tuesday a meeting gathering top diplomats from
the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the United States, Jordan, and Iraq.
The meeting, called upon by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, was held on the sideline of the 74th UN General Assembly.
Tabled during the meeting were issues connected with ways to bolster ties on all possible domains amongst the countries present at the gathering to achieve overall cooperation, security, and stability.
Accompanying Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled was Ambassador of Kuwait to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
