KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30, (Agencies): Kuwaiti Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled AlRoudhan announced Monday that Kuwait would have a commercial mission in Baghdad to boost trade exchange with its Arab neighbor.

The minister hailed the outcome of the meeting which demonstrated the two countries’ keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination in all fields.

Since February, the two countries’ officials held over four meetings and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah paid a historic visit to Baghdad to further strengthen ties, he said. For his part, Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammad Al-Ani told KUNA that the ministerial meeting also mulled opening a new Safwan border crossing, adding that the Kuwaiti side will establish the crossing point.

The meeting also tackled trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, he said.

The Iraqi minister stressed that the success achieved during the meeting requires perseverance to implement what has been agreed upon to achieve the aspiration of the two peoples.

Meanwhile, informed sources few days ago commented on some social communication platforms about campaigns that attempted to depict Kuwait as being excluded from the Chinese Silk Road (Route) project, which is a major investment plan by the government of China, reports Al-Anba daily.

The same sources indicated whatever has been agitated on social media concerning the exclusion of Kuwait from the Silk Road project does not represent China’s position or rather official bodies in China, and everything said is a prediction of the project’s map circulated in various media platforms and has no relations with the Chinese government bodies.

“The relationship between Kuwait and China is a strategic one, cemented through vital agreements since 2014, and crowned by the visit of HH the Amir of Kuwait to Beijing in 2018.
