MP drops grilling plan

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: After a series of deliberations between officials at the Ministry of Social Affairs and MP Al-Humaidi Al-Subai’i, Kuwaiti women whose social welfare allocation was canceled for failure to fulfill numerous requirements and update their data will once again receive the allocation within 10 days.

Speaking to reporters at the National Assembly Media Center, the MP explained his plan to grill the minister on this issue has been set aside due to the positive response from the ministry officials. He said a significant number of Kuwaiti women lost their social welfare allocation for failing to update their data in various governmental institutions – a requirement that the ministry have put in place to ensure no one undeservingly benefits from this allocation.

However, the ministry did not consider the circumstances of these women – whether or not they are in good health condition to go from one ministry or authority to another just to complete procedures that the government should be doing, he added.

According to the MP, the ministry will establish a specialized department, similar to the Civil Service Commission (CSC), within four months to electronically link every concerned governmental body. This will allow the ministry to access all required information without the need for the concerned citizens to update their date every six months.
