Education for Justice Initiative to raise awareness over rule of law
Nazaha to partake in confab
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6, (KUNA): Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (NAZAHA) announced its participation today (Monday) in the first high-level conference on Education for Justice Initiative to raise awareness over the rule of law, scheduled to be held in Vienna.
In a press statement Sunday, Nazaha said the conference, initiated by the Conference of the States Parties, part of the United Nations Convention against Corruption agreement, which is organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Nazaha said the agenda for this conference will delve into several substantive issues related to the Education for Justice Program, one of the programs issued at the end of the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Doha in April 2015.
The program was approved by the UN General Assembly in its resolution (70/174), which aims to prevent crime and the rule of law at all levels of education to educate children and youth within the global crime prevention and social justice program.
The program also aims to place education at the heart of UN’s preventive efforts to build strong and resilient societies within the framework of the International Convention against Corruption.
The statement by Nazaha also noted that the conference aims to provide the international community with an opportunity to discuss ways and means to promote education towards the rule of law through a variety of innovative educational curricula while highlighting the importance of educating children and youth on the importance of law.
The conference seeks to create opportunities to share good practices among participants, enabling them to make joint decisions for a more comprehensive and diverse approach to promote education on the rule of law and support the implementation of the sustainable development agenda.
One of the objectives of the conference is also to enable teachers to integrate teaching in the legal field into the curricula and classrooms at the primary, secondary and university levels.
Nazaha has conducted a number of joint programs with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as part of the Education for Justice Program through the launching of awareness and training workshops in since last March.
