Meeting in progress of the Kuwaiti, Saudi Consulate Committee. KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: The educational reports cite a rise in the number of psychological problems and crises experienced by pupils from kindergarten, to primary to intermediate levels, in addition to the academic problems and speech disorder, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The reports pointed out that the psychological researchers over the past two years dealt with about 11,959 psychological problems, and opened a special file for each case.

The reports obtained by Al-Qabas show that the number of individual students cases, whether psychological, academic and/or speech disorders that were dealt in three stages increased during the academic year 2017/2018 by 6,103 cases, while 5,856 cases were detected at the end of the 2016/2017 academic year.

The study found that the total number of cases that the study dealt with reached 5,583 cases – 3,617 cases of speech disorder, 1,881 cases psychological problems and the figure for other problems was 878.

According to a report issued by the last academic year 2017/2018, the most number of individual cases were reported from the Farwaniya educational zone with 1,520 cases, followed by the Capital with 1,222 cases, Mubarak Al-Kabir 1,017 cases, Hawalli 981 cases, Ahmadi 711, while the Jahra Educational Zone accounted for the lowest number of individual cases, with 702.

According to the report, the number of problems in the individual cases was related to academic failure (2,855 cases); followed by speech disorder and absenteeism (1835 cases) and other psychological problems (950 cases) and finally the cases that were classified according to the report as mental retardation and excessive activity, poor concentration and behavioral conditions (643 cases).

The report stressed that some psychotherapeutic programs need time to achieve the desired result, as there are parents who do not show cooperation with researchers who are willing to treat the cases of their children, while some others lack the ability to understand some of the psychological counseling programs for follow-up cases, which consume more time.
