A statement on the return of HH the Amir to Kuwait

- By M. P. Bona, Ambassador of South Africa

On behalf of the South African government, people and Embassy staff, it gives me a great pleasure to congratulate the government and people of Kuwait on the occasion of the happy return of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to his beloved country. I wish him good health and well-being to continue and provide leadership and wisdom to his people and that of the region.

South Africa and Kuwait enjoy sound, deeply-rooted and solid diplomatic and trade relations. The governments of both countries have been working hard to further strengthen bilateral relations in all fields. South Africa sees Kuwait as one of the major investors in South Africa in particular and in Africa in general. Kuwait has also become one of the major markets for South African high quality food products. Furthermore, South Africa has recently become one of the major tourism destinations for Kuwaiti travellers.

The State of Kuwait, under the visionary leadership of His Highness, the Amir of Humanity, has been relentlessly contributing in the field of humanitarian relief to alleviate the pain of distressed countries and people. It has also contributed to the development and advancement of a big number of countries around the world through the Kuwaiti Fund for Economic Development. Kuwait has also sought amicable and peaceful resolutions of disputes around the world.

Again, I wish His Highness the Amir good health and success upon resuming his duties and responsibilities towards Kuwait, the GCC region and the whole world.
