GOAN Strikers snap 7th week winning streak of top rank Jordan Elites

Falcon end skid as KRAHS, UNIMONI, Al Qwassem and NUSANTARA win

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: Thirteenth placers of the on-going league GOAN Strikers shocked the league front-runners Jordan Elites (3,019-2,957) but it did not affect the team standings, while N 10 MID8TORS almost ousted the ‘X’-Trikerz from the “Magic 8” (2,9662,789) and Falcon Int’l Cargo deflated the Asian Air Safari (2,761-2,568) to take off from the runway in the eighth week of the 2019 Philippine Bowling Associatio­n in Kuwait 33rd Anniversar­y Cup – Tenpin Bowling League eliminatio­n round at the Kuwait Bowling Sporting Club Complex in Salmiya, Kuwait. Other teams that recorded victory over their opponents were KRAHS vs Swooping Eagles (2,985-2,775), UNIMONI Exchange vs Split Happens (3,070-default), Al Qwassem vs IBL Tigers (3,006-2,782) and NUSANTARA vs SKARZ (2,8182,494).

The top rank of the present league, the Jordan Elites met a shocking defeat in the hands of the thirteenth placers GOAN Strikers 2,957-3,019 and also snapped their winning streak in the eighth week. In the first game of the three-game series the Jordan bowlers took the lead with the commanding scores of 1,027-876 through Class A Colin’s superb performanc­e scoring 236 assisted by Lloyd’s 187. In the second game, the Elites’ triumvirat­e of superstars Adel, Ali and Fadi and prolific scorer Class C Yousef retaliated and scored 207, 203, 203 and 210 respective­ly with total 1,069-995 pin falls. The devastatio­n continued in the third game with the same full force while the GOANs kept their poise and the score was 1,012-972. Unbelievab­ly, the powerhouse team were short of 37 pins and the GOANs hysterical­ly rejoiced as if they won the championsh­ip with sixty two points advantage. The GOAN Strikers were Colin Eric Nelson (586), Lloyd Fernandes (550), Vasant Harshan (529), Brian Fernandes (487), Samantha Fernandes (285) and Lloyd D’Souza (140) while Jordan Elites were Fadi Al Masri (610), Ali Adel Khalil (541), Yousef Waleed (518), Aji Varghese (469), Ali Hikmat (398) and Basma Amar (148).

Another surprising match was between Asian Air Safari and Falcon Int’l Cargo both with depleted line up. In the first game encounter, the Falcon with four bowlers, two Class B and two Class C lost to Asian Air with just three bowlers, two Class O – Farid Gabriel (250), Mohd Karam (210), and Class B – Wahab Al Ali (205) with the score of 884-961. But in the second game and third game the Cargo specialist won the game 947-821 and 905786 and finally won the match up 2,761-2,568. With the win the drowsy Falcon stopped their sixth losing streak but confined still in the tenth place while the Asian Air slid from fourth to fifth place. Falcon bowlers were Erick Chang (529), Melvin Alabado (506), Adolfo Prena (501) and John Narvasa (442) while the players of the losing team were Wahab Al Ali (613), Farid Gabriel (587) and Mohd Karam (530).

The N 10 MID8TORS continued their fourth winning streak, while the ‘X’-Trikerz had their three weeks connecting losses. In Game 1, the N 10 MID8TORS crushed the Strikerz 1,007882 but in the second game X-Men restricted the N 10 MID8TORS into 973-919 but it was the N 10 MID8TORS’ day and repulsed the Strikerz 1,015-934. The victorious team jumped from sixth to fourth place while the X-Men remain hanging in the eighth place. Lady bowler Alma Turley (578) was the top scorer followed by Hussain Adnan (536), Lito Michael (515), Luther Huling (510) and Daryl Armstrong (353) while ‘X’-Trikerz top pointer was Joe Presenta (525), Jayson Gamba (500), Ceddie Faa (491), Bima Nitikusumo (309), Reygan Percy (249), Imelda Daguio (149) and Chris Carungay (146).

The KRAHS team continue to progress when they stopped the Swooping Eagles 2,985-2,775. In the first game of their encounter, KRAHS subdued the Eagles 1,033-834 but the Eagles avenged their defeat in the second game and scored 1,035-965. In the third game, KRAHS showed their superiorit­y over the Swooping monsters 962-906. With the win the winners advance from seventh to sixth place while the losers dropped down from fifth to seventh position. The highest scorer was Moises Amahan (560), followed by Rene Marzan (543), Mar Evangelist­a (532), Joel Tizon (521) and Eden Danan (334) while Swooping Eagles high pointer was Riz Roque (533), Alonzo Bush (492), Clinton Cathers (408), Jessica Balagat (406), Benjie Roque (268) and Mona Corpuz (123).

Finally, Al Qwassem marked their third consecutiv­e win being No. 2 in four weeks and just needed 150 points to capture the top post relying from their magnificen­t bowlers. This time their rivals were the IBL Tigers who were in the eleventh position. Al Qwassem won the first game 1,020-861 and were surprised by the Tigers in the second game by just one pin 940-939 and in the final game the superior team subdued the Tigers 1,022956 and the final score was 3,006-2782.

The mighty five of Al Qwassem were Yacoub Al Shati (599), Fadel Al Qassem (580), Ayoub Al Shatti (570), Saleh Faraj (506) and Ali Jawli (493) while IBL Tigers were Siddarth Nair (523), Sheldon Gonsalves (498), Nadine Dias (475), Ulysses Menezes (382), Aman Agarwal (327) and Fatima Sequiera (128). NUSANTARA easily discharged SKARZ when they swept their scheduled three games 988-883, 891-840, 914-771 (2,8182,494). NUSANTARA kept the ninth place for four weeks while SKARZ with no win are still the cellar dwellers. UNIMONI Exchange won by default with Split Happens.

Individual Best Results: In the Individual High Game, there were no changes on pin falls record – Men’s Class A/O – Asian Air Safari’s Mohammad Karam (269); in Class B – Al Qassem’s Saleh Faraj (279); also in Class C – Jordan Elites’ Yousef Waleed (252); while in Ladies division Class A – Asian Air’s Sonia Mathews (234) and in Class B – N 10 MID8TORS’ Alma Turley (213). In the Individual High Average, Men’s Class A/O – Al Qwassem’s Yacoub Al Shatti (221.7); Class B – Asian Air Safari’s Hussein Salman (198.7) also Class C – Jordan Elites’ Yousef Waleed (176.7) and in the Ladies division, Class A – Sonia Mathews (183.6) while in Class B – Alma Turley of N 10 MID8TORS (178.6).
