Kuwait keen to achieve food security
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah affirmed on Wednesday Kuwait’s commitment to ensure food security for its people and the world and support sustainable development.
This came in a speech he delivered on celebrating the World Food Day, held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome.
In the speech, Sheikh Azzam said, “in light of His Highness the Amir’s directives, we are keen to ensure proper food and nutrition for every member of our people”.
He pointed out the independent public nutrition body, recently established in Kuwait, which will help in achieving food security and nutrition in the country.
He stressed Kuwait’s commitment to achieve goals set by the international community to implement the sustainable development by 2030, especially the second goal related to the problem of hunger, chronical malnutrition, and obesity.
He expressed Kuwait’s aspiration to receive FAO’s support to strengthen its efforts and national strategies by providing effective advice through its governing bodies, especially the Committee on World Food Security.
He congratulated FAO and the world on the celebration, and looked forward to further progress towards achieving the strategic goals of sustainable development.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the international celebration is headed by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah.
