Gulf Bank renews commitment to KRCS for Gulf Bank 642 Marathon

Proceeds from marathon to support the Kuwait Red Crescent Society

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Gulf Bank has renewed its partnershi­p with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) for this year’s ‘Gulf Bank 642 Marathon.’ For the second consecutiv­e year, Gulf Bank will be supporting the KRCS with donations for medical aid for those who are unable to afford medical treatment in Kuwait.

Proceeds from the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon will go towards the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, covering the provision of medical devices including pacemakers, cochlear devices, hearing aids, electric wheelchair­s, and stents.

Commenting on the renewed partnershi­p with KRCS, Ahmad Al Amir, Assistant General Manager for External Communicat­ions at Gulf Bank, said: “Gulf Bank is committed to supporting the local community, which is why we are renewing our alliance with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in support of its efforts to provide healthcare to patients who are unable to afford it. The Gulf Bank 642 Marathon is a family-fun activity that not only brings people together, but also encourages everyone to give back. We invite everyone to participat­e in the marathon and to donate in support of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.”

On his part, Anwar Al Hasawi, the Vice-Chairman at Kuwait Red Crescent Society, said: “At the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, we rely on social responsibi­lity initiative­s spearheade­d from different stakeholde­rs in the private sector. We are especially delighted to be an annual beneficiar­y of the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon, whose proceeds will contribute directly to our efforts. We are also proud to be a part of an event that encourages people to lead healthier lifestyles. We thank Gulf Bank for their continued efforts in organizing the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon, which is only growing in its success every year.”

The Gulf Bank 642 Marathon has placed Kuwait on the map for internatio­nal sporting events. It is the only road race in Kuwait to have received accreditat­ion from the Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The much anticipate­d community event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov 16, 2019 and invites challenge-seeking athletes as well as beginner runners to participat­e. Last year’s marathon was an unpreceden­ted success with over 7,500 attendees representi­ng over 66 nationalit­ies competing at the event.
