Goan League gears up for knockout phase

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Goan Football League run by the Goa Football Association Kuwait (GFAK) goes to the knockout phase with the quarter-final fixtures lined up to be played at Bayan Grounds after 10 rounds of gruelling games in the summer heat.
In Group A, leaders Holy Spirit, Margao will take on fourth-placed Capxem Boys, while Pasha Boys will play St Rita, Maina.
Amigos de Jardine play CRC Chinchinim, and St Christopher FC will play Goa Strikers.
In the last round of matches, Holy Spirit drew with Pasha Boys 1-1 to Christopher SC were the other two teams to be unbeaten in the league phase.
Amigos finished top of Group B with 24 points while St Christopher accumulated 22 points from 10 outings.
Amigos de Jardine beat Le Blues Goa 3-0 in their last league match.
Jayden Luke (2) and Justine Tony (1) scored for the winners.
Justine Tony of Amigos was awarded man of the match at the hands of Godfrey Aguiar.
In the other matches, CRC Chinchinim held St Christopher FC 1-1.
Mairon Fernandes (1) scored for St Christopher while Zeon Paul Fernandes scored for Chinchinim.
Mairon Fernandes of St Christopher was awarded at the hands of Rosario Colaco.
Goa Strikers beat Dynamos FC 3-0 to qualify for the knockout phase.
Ronny Fernandes (1), Conrad Pinto (1) and Ashely (1) scored for the winners. Ronny was adjudged man of the match, the prize was handed by John Pillai.
The race for top scorer of the league is a close one. The top five scorers so far are as follows:

8 goals – Jayden Luke Fernandes (Amigos de Jardine)
