‘China and the Gulf States: The US View’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: Kuwaitbased Reconnaissance Research Center held a closed-door forum at Arraya Tower entitled “China and the Gulf States: The US View.” The forum featured high-level representation from the US State Department and was attended by diplomats, academics, prominent businessmen, newspaper editors and opinion writers.
The forum dealt with a number of topics including regional stability, increasing levels of bilateral trade between China and the Gulf, the development of China-Gulf political ties, in addition to the US perspective on Kuwait’s Northern Economic Zone (Silk City) project, and the effect of the Gulf dispute on US-Gulf relations.
“Reconnaissance Research Center is working diligently to provide a platform through which perspectives on various issues that matter can be discussed. Our forums aspire to become an effective channel that seeks to connect Kuwaiti policy influencers with leaders from the US and other parts of the world, said Abdulaziz Al-Anjeri, the Director of Reconnaissance Research Center. “Our center aims to shed light on rapid changes in global affairs so as to increase awareness both locally and abroad,” he added.
Larry Memmott, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kuwait, said, “The US Embassy thanks Reconnaissance Research and its board of members for organizing this very important forum. We are delighted to have been offered the chance to discuss the United States’ view on China-Gulf relations. Moreover, we are pleased that this forum is taking place here in Kuwait, our long-standing ally and friend.”
