Kuwait reiterates supporting rights of Palestinian people
Call for own state; Israeli attacks rapped
CAIRO, Oct 19, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Minister of State for Economic Affairs Maryam Al-Aqeel has reiterated continued support of the Palestinian people in gaining their full and legitimate rights and establishing their sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Aqeel, also Chairperson of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), made her remarks on Saturday at the opening of the 91st session of ALO’s Board of Directors in Cairo. The two-day event is tagged “governments, businesspersons, and laborers”.
She strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli assaults on the Palestinian people, who face a fierce attack by the occupying “Zionist” forces on all levels; political, economic, and social.
The Palestinians still suffer an unrecognition of their right in establishing their own independent state, as well as Judaization procedures, including settlements construction and expansion, to eliminate the Arab identity and destroy any foundation for establishing a sovereign Palestinian state, added Al-Aqeel.
Furthermore, the Palestinian people continue to face all forms of racism, dispossession of arable lands, and unemployment, in addition to systematic chases and arrests, and imposed constraints on workers’ monetary transactions and human rights based on international agreements, added ALO chief.
The 91st session is of a great importance and responsibility, especially since it follows-up the implementation of ALO’s 46th session resolutions, discusses best implementing measures, and tackles overcoming possible obstacles, said Al-Aqeel.
Other significant and vital topics include following-up implementation of the 90th session resolutions, reviewing a report on Israeli settlements and their economic and social impacts on Palestinian lands and labor sector, and following-up implementation of ALO economic and social council’s 104th regular session resolutions, she added.
Moreover, the Kuwaiti senior official lauded ALO’s Director General Fayez Al-Mutairi for enhancing the organization’s status on regional and international levels, and boosting its role in serving labor and laborer issues.
For his part, Al-Mutairi affirmed, in his speech, ALO’s full and unlimited support of the Palestinian people, noting the organization has been backing the Palestinian cause since its establishment, and highlighted its economic and social impacts at various official Arab, regional, and international forums.
The State of Kuwait renewed, late Thursday, its unequivocal stance towards supporting the unity and sovereignty of Sudan.
Delivering a statement to the UNSC meeting on the situation in Darfur, Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the UN headquarters in New York Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi said that paramount support was required to address the current conditions in Sudan, indicating that a good first step would be to lift all sanctions and to remove Khartoum from the list of State sponsors of terrorism.
“This new Sudan needs our support,” Ambassador Al-Otaibi reiterated, adding that Kuwait – alongside members of the UNSC and others – were willing to provide a helping hand to Sudan.
He emphasized that UNAMID’s new mandate must be clear and concise while confirming “it will definitely exit.”
