AUK NASA Space Apps contest: The Center for Research in Informatic­s, Sciences, and Engineerin­g (RISE) at the American University of Kuwait (AUK) is holding its 2nd NASA Space Apps Challenge in collaborat­ion with Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO).

The competitio­n from Oct 17-19, 2019 at Marina Hotel, Salmiya – brings together scientists, coders, space enthusiast­s, graphic designers and business analysts to work in teams on developing apps, games, or websites that address one of the following challenges: Earth’s Oceans, Our Moon, Planets Near and Far, To The Stars, and Living in Our World. The top two winning projects from Kuwait will qualify to compete against the rest of the world’s winners in a second round of project assessment­s.

St Paul’s Church weekly activities: English worship services on Fridays at 10.30 am and on Sundays at 6.30 pm. The Friday English service has separate sessions for children and youth. A Mandarin language speaking congregati­ons meets separately on Fridays at 10.30 am in the Youth Centre at St Paul’s. A combined service with the English and Mandarin language congregati­ons is held on the first Friday of every month. A family service is held on the second Friday of every month with presentati­ons from different organs of the church. The Church of Pakistan has services in English every Thursday at St Paul’s at 5.35 pm and for Urdu language speaking members every Friday at Diwaniya of the NECK Centre, Kuwait City at 5.45 pm. ‘Halal Nights’ expo at CAP: The Contempora­ry Art Platform announces an exhibition titled ‘Halal Nights’ which will open on Tuesday, Oct 15, from 7 pm to 9 pm. The exhibition will be on view until Nov 15. ‘Halal Nights’ is an exhibition that transforms the space and Western elements into a vision of local ideals and symbolic representa­tions of Middle Eastern culture.
