25th Asian Bowling Championship kicks off
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: The opening of the 25th Asian Bowling Championship will be held for the first time in Kuwait at Crowne Plaze Hotel in Farwaniya on Oct 20.
The championship, which will be held under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, will witness the participation of 28 countries, and will come to an end on Oct 30.
Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri will attend the opening ceremony on behalf of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak.
A number of Kuwaiti and international sports figures including President of World Bowling Federation and Asian Bowling Federation Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad and heads of bowling federations of the participating countries will be present at the opening ceremony.
The ceremony, which will last for one hour, will begin with recitation of verses from the Quran followed by a brief description of the life of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Then the march of the participating teams will begin. Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad is expected to deliver a speech as the head of the organizing committee, which will be followed by the oathtaking ceremony of the referees and players.
A total of 27 countries have confirmed their participation in the event including Afghanistan, Australia, Bahrain, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Macaw, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.
