MoF highlights three consequences if some jobs receive special allowance

‘Enforce strategic alternative’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Ministry of Finance has issued a technical opinion concerning the three negative consequences of providing financial allowances for certain jobs and professions, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The ministry explained that provision of such allowance will open the door for other professions to call for similar allowances, which will result in increase in the allocated budget for the first item concerning salaries. Jobs of similar nature in different sectors will also demand for allowances.

Providing special allowances for specific jobs will reduce the turnout of other jobs that do not include such privileges. In such case, the state will be forced to fill the vacancies by hiring expatriate workers, which is against the government’s policy of replacing expatriate workers with Kuwaitis in the public sector.

Allocation of allowances for specific jobs will also increase the number of employees working in those positions as a result of increased turnout due to the financial benefits. This will lead to spread of underemployment as a result of increase in the number of those employees, which will exceed the demands of the work.

According to sources, the only solution for the demands of allocation of special allowances for certain positions is to enforce the strategic alternative, stressing that the demands will escalate as long as it is not enforced.
