10 Kuwaitis among 100 most influentia­l Arab social responsibi­lity persons of ’19

KU’s OERCC organizes workshop Body considered five specialize­d areas for nomination

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The Regional Network for Congress of Social Responsibi­lity (CSRN) has released the list of 100 Most Influentia­l Arab Social Responsibi­lity Persons of the Year 2019, in recognitio­n of the United Nations Month, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a press release issued on the occasion of the Internatio­nal Congress of Social Responsibi­lity in Rabat, Prof.

Youssef Abdel Ghaffar said the selection was made based on an Arab profession­al ranking launched by the network, which allowed Arab personalit­ies to apply for this ranking by announcing the conditions governing the applicatio­n.

He explained that the consultati­ve body of this Arab ranking, In the spirit of promoting strategic partnershi­p, the research sector in the Office of External Research Collaborat­ion and Consultati­on (OERCC) in Kuwait University organized a workshop with the Creative and Technology Group in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).

According to a press release, the university’s Deputy President for Research Prof. Jassem Al-Kandari and several university officials attended the workshop.

which includes Arab profession­al and academic figures, considered five specialize­d areas on which the nomination was approved.

These areas are - social responsibi­lity, sustainabl­e developmen­t, business ethics, community service, and institutio­nal volunteeri­ng.

The Arab Profession­al Ranking is being launched this year by nominating to achieving the university’s 2040 strategy, and to counter challenges in the fields of discovery, production and ideal implementa­tion of the recently-signed Master Research Agreement.

Discussion­s during the workshop also focused on means of cooperatio­n with the centers of research and creativity, and the contributi­on needed by the university in supporting the roadmap for technology and research, as well as ways to build the abilities of the researcher­s in a manner that suits their group efforts for establishi­ng research center. influentia­l Arab figures who play prominent roles in the society.

The most prominent among those selected from Kuwait are Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled, Educationa­l Expert Sheikha Suhaila Salem Al-Sabah, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the Internatio­nal Islamic Charity Organizati­on Dr Abdullah Al-Matouq, and Director General of the Arab Planning Institute Dr Bader Malallah.

The list also includes the Director General of the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Developmen­t of the Islamic Developmen­t Bank in Jeddah Dr Walid Al-Wahaib, the President of the Arab Foundation for Community Values Dr Zuhair Al-Mazidi, Chairman of the Social Solidarity Associatio­n for the Care of Insolvent Prisoners Dr Musaed Mandani, Director General of the Zakat House Mohammed Al-Otaibi and an academic with a doctorate in the field of social responsibi­lity Dr Aroub Al-Rifai, as well as a consultant in the field of sustainabl­e developmen­t Bader Al-Mutairi.
