Kuwait University obtains ‘accreditation’ from ABET
NUKS holds annual general meeting
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The Kuwait University has announced that the Department of Info Sciences at the Faculty of Life Sciences has obtained the international academic accreditation in (public computing) from the international organization (ABET) specialized in accrediting engineering and computing programs, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Acting Head of Information Science, Dr Hanadi Abdulsalam, said in a press statement on Saturday that the self-assessment report prepared by the department was chosen among the top 50 reports in the world.
Abdulsalam added that the Information Science Department aims to provide a high quality education that is comprehensive and oriented towards the professional life in computer information systems and a curriculum based on the best outputs to achieve the vision of (New Kuwait 2035).
Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) is an American organization that accredits education programs in applied sciences, computing, engineering and technology worldwide, especially in the United States.
It is noteworthy that the Department of Information Sciences grants a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science, in addition to the two Master programs in Information Technology and the other in Computer Information Systems.
Meanwhile, The National Union of Kuwait Students (NUKS), France and neighboring countries, held its annual general assembly meeting yesterday evening, which resulted in imparting confidence in the members of the administrative board and recommending the list of student visions to obtain the seats of the administrative board, in addition to the selection of members of the delegation of the conference in the executive branch of Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily..
Abdullah Al-Ajmi was chosen as Chairman, Ali Ashkanani as ViceChairman, AbdulAziz Al-Fadhli as Secretary and Abdullah Al-Rashidi as Treasurer.
The union included the membership of Saleh Al-Mutairi, Mohammed Al-Mutairi, Yousef Al-Falah, Nassima Nemer and Malek Al-Enezi. Representatives of the conference delegation, Fahad Al-Quhais and Eid Al-Rumaish, were also recommended.
The board of 2018-2019 submitted its resignation, and received the list of student visions which have been recommended for the second year in a row, where the new Union will open the door for committees to appoint members of committees representing the Union of French students in all regions and all neighboring countries.
