Thomas holds off Lee to clinch 2nd CJ Cup title in three years

The camel “Mablishan” owned by Sultan Al-Ajmi won the 5th Kuwait Club for Camel Racing Cup in the current camel racing season.

According to a press release, the six-kilometer race witnessed a strong competitio­n from other camels. The camel “Burqan” owned by Abdullah Abdul-Hadi came second, followed by the camel “Tabouk” owned by Talal Al-Otaibi in the third place.

In the five-kilometer race, the camel “Al-Dhabi” owned by Ali Eid Muslim emerged victorious, followed by the camel “Azam” owned by Nasser Al-Ajmi in second place, and the camel “Odeilah” owned by Rashid Al-Merri in third.

In the six-kilometer race for senior category, the camel “Jabbar” owned by Hashr Al-Hajiri took the lead from the very start of the race, followed by the camel “Khotam” owned by Taleb Saud in second place and the camel “AlTafi” owned by Abdul-Hadi Al-Ajmi in third. SEOUL, Oct 20, (Agencies): Inaugural champion Justin Thomas staved off a challenge by Danny Lee to claim his second CJ Cup title in three years with a two-shot victory over the Korean-born New Zealander at Nine Bridges on Sunday.

The overnight leaders were level for the first 13 holes before Thomas surged ahead with a birdie on the 14th, while Lee bogeyed the 15th and 16th to effectivel­y drop out of contention.

Thomas eventually signed off with a five-under 67 for a winning total of 20-under 268, while Lee carded 69 to finish in second place to the American.

It has been a difficult week for Lee whose second child, originally due closer to Christmas, was born prematurel­y last Sunday and is in an incubator.

Hideki Matsuyama (65), Gary Woodland (66) and Cameron Smith (69) shared third place at 15-under.

A further three shots behind was Jordan Spieth, who returned 71, while fellow American Phil Mickelson finished with 68 to be joined by Australian Jason Day (71) at seven-under.

PGA Tour’s three-event Asian swing now moves to Japan where Tiger Woods will compete in the Zozo Championsh­ip before Shanghai hosts the World Golf Championsh­ips from Oct 31.

a tournament record 16-under par 272.

The 27-year-old American began the day one stroke behind compatriot Jessica Korda, who shot a final-round 72 to finish second at 15 under.

Kang birdied the 15th to pull two strokes ahead, but Korda responded with a birdie of her own on 17. Kang then holed a 3-foot par putt on the 18th to win her third career title.

Korda had three birdies and three bogeys for even par on the day.

Liu Yu of China shot a 7-under 65 to surge into a three-way tie for third with Japan’s Nasa Hataoka and LPGA rookie Kristen Gillman at 13 under and the best finish of Gillman’s career.

American Megan Khang tied the 18-hole scoring record with an 8-under 64, including a hole-in-one on the par-3 11th to finish tied for seventh.

Brooke Henderson of Canada shot a 1-over 73 to drop from third place into a tie for ninth with top-ranked Jin Young Ko and Nelly Korda at 9 under.

The Buick LPGA Shanghai was the first of four straight events in Asia. The tour moves to Busan, South Korea next week for the BMW Ladies Championsh­ip.
