Asian Bowling Federation holds meeting

Top & above: Participat­ing teams of the 25th Asian Bowling Championsh­ip.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The Asian Bowling Federation will hold its 25th meeting on Oct 21 on the sidelines of the 25th Asian Bowling Championsh­ip.

The championsh­ip is being held in Kuwait under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah with the participat­ion of 27 countries.

The meeting will be presided over by the President of World Bowling Federation and Asian Bowling Federation and will be attended by representa­tives from 39 countries and bowling federation­s.

Following the arrival of all the teams in Kuwait, the readiness for the championsh­ip accelerate­d in terms of intensive training. The bowling balls to be used for the championsh­ip will be registered, and the bowling lanes will be lubricated. The training of the first group will begin at 2:30 pm, and the training of the second group will begin at 4 pm after the lanes are lubricated for the second time.

Many countries including Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Australia and Singapore are preparing to break the domination of South Korea which took top places in all competitio­ns including the last five editions of the championsh­ip.

Teams from Asian countries are most outstandin­g on the internatio­nal level. Among countries that won the highest number of medals in men competitio­ns, South Korea is in fourth place followed by Taiwan in 5th, Malaysia 11th, the Philippine­s 13th and Singapore 15th. In addition, Australia is in 8th place.

In the women category, South Korea is in second place, the Philippine­s 4th, Malaysia 5th, Japan 6th, Australia 6th and Taiwan 11th.

Regarding the achievemen­ts of Kuwait, Kuwait won a bronze medal in the internatio­nal bowling competitio­n for men. It also won a silver and a bronze in the 23rd Asian Bowl
