Asian Bowling Federation holds meeting

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The Asian Bowling Federation will hold its 25th meeting on Oct 21 on the sidelines of the 25th Asian Bowling Championship.

The championship is being held in Kuwait under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah with the participation of 27 countries.

The meeting will be presided over by the President of World Bowling Federation and Asian Bowling Federation and will be attended by representatives from 39 countries and bowling federations.

Following the arrival of all the teams in Kuwait, the readiness for the championship accelerated in terms of intensive training. The bowling balls to be used for the championship will be registered, and the bowling lanes will be lubricated. The training of the first group will begin at 2:30 pm, and the training of the second group will begin at 4 pm after the lanes are lubricated for the second time.

Many countries including Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Australia and Singapore are preparing to break the domination of South Korea which took top places in all competitions including the last five editions of the championship.

Teams from Asian countries are most outstanding on the international level. Among countries that won the highest number of medals in men competitions, South Korea is in fourth place followed by Taiwan in 5th, Malaysia 11th, the Philippines 13th and Singapore 15th. In addition, Australia is in 8th place.

In the women category, South Korea is in second place, the Philippines 4th, Malaysia 5th, Japan 6th, Australia 6th and Taiwan 11th.

Regarding the achievements of Kuwait, Kuwait won a bronze medal in the international bowling competition for men. It also won a silver and a bronze in the 23rd Asian Bowl
