MoE reorganizes admission of slow-learning students

Secondary stage of public schools, private Arabic schools

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hamid Al-Azmi reorganized the admission process of slow learning students in the secondary stage of public schools and private Arabic schools, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The amendments were introduced after studying the observations included in the ministerial decision No. 140/ 2011 concerning the disruptions in the enrollment of these students in the secondary stage.

Dr Al-Azmi issued the decision with regulations and conditions to be met by the students including taking the examinations of grade 9 curricula in Arabic, Islamic Education, English, Mathematics, Sciences and Social Studies subjects.

The decision specified the dates of the examinations, which will be held during the second week of every new academic year. The exams will be held at the educational zones where the student belongs.

The decision allows slow learning students who failed in the exams and those who passed the exams of grade 9 for the slow learning curricula to repeat the classes of grade 9 in the public and private Arabic schools either in the morning or afternoon shifts. They will take the examination for the entire curricula of the academic year. After passing the exams, the students will be allowed to complete their secondary stage in public or private sector schools. The slow learning students who failed in grade 9 exams can repeat the year by joining the training courses organized by Public Authority for Applied Education and Training for this category of students.
