Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker honored by Arab Lawyers’ Union
Speaker invites Hungarian counterpart to visit Kuwait
CAIRO, Nov 23, (KUNA): The Arab Lawyers’ Union held a ceremony honoring Kuwait National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim in recognition of his firm stances on the Palestinian cause and supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people.
Al-Ghanim affirmed to the audience at the event held last night that without the support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad
Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as well as His Highness’s unwavering stance, he (Al-Ghanim) would not have taken such strong and principled position vis-a-vis the Palestinian issue in all international forums.
The Arab League praised the stances and efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti top lawmaker to serve his country, its people and the issues of his nation.
This came in a speech by the
League’s Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Department of Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories, Ambassador Said Abu Ali during the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Budapest Saad Al-Asousi conveyed a message and an invitation from Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim to Hungarian Parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover to visit the country.
Al-Asousi said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that they discussed means of boosting bilateral relations in cultural, educational, commercial and economic domains.
He admired the deep historical relations between both sides, describing them as concrete in various fields, considering their common views and stances on several issues.
Kuwait has a privileged position with the politicians in Hungary and this is the result of the success of Kuwaiti foreign policy, Al-Asousi mentioned.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament Laszlo underscored his country’s eagerness to strengthen relations with Kuwait at various levels and fields.
He acclaimed the Kuwaiti parliamentary experience, saying it was a good example to be followed in the region, hoping to raise the level of Kuwaiti-Hungarian parliamentary cooperation to higher levels to serve public interests.
He stressed the importance of communication between Hungary and Kuwait, especially since his country is interested in opening a broader horizon for relations with the Arab world.
