About 90 percent illegal shops in Jleeb, Hassawi sealed; encroachments razed
Power supply cut to homes occupied by bachelors
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: The Municipality continues its campaign to “clean up” Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Al-Hasawi areas, and about 90 percent of the shops in Muhammad Bin Al-Qasim Street have been closed.
In his role, Deputy Director General of the Municipal Affairs in Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabir Governorates Ammar Al-Ammar stated the campaign witnessed the closure of shops and removal of illegally erected shades, in addition to cutting power supply to shops violating the law.
Al-Ammar noted the Director General of Municipality and chairperson of the committee in charge of affairs in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Engineer Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, had set a three-month period to change the face of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh by 70 percent. She explained the main violations committed against the municipality include shops opened without licenses, using licensed plots for other purposes, and infringements on state property.
Director of the Department of Hygiene and Road Works Saad Al-Kharj said the number of violations keeps increasing, whereas 263 shops have been closed since the start of the campaign.
Regarding the phenomenon of bachelors, deputy head of the Judicial Department at Ministry of Electricity and Water, Engineer Ahmad Al-Shammari, said the team cut power supply to some houses in Ahmadi this week after the municipality issued a list of violating houses and their addresses.
Al-Shammari noted the team on Sunday launched an extensive campaign in Kabd area, covering agricultural plots, as well as areas in Jleeb and Jahra. He added five citations were issued against various violations during the campaign, in addition to a case of electricity theft at an agricultural plot.
Businessman detained:
The security authorities have detained for investigation a well-known Kuwaiti businessman identified only as X.Y. on charges of fraud and cheating a Qatari businessman, reports Al-Rai daily.
Lawyer Faisal Al-Enezi, in a lawsuit filed on behalf of his Qatari client said his client owns two properties in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, which he agreed to give to a Kuwaiti businessman in exchange for the farms in Sulaibiya which the Kuwaiti said belongs to him.
.An informed source revealed that the Qatari businessman, after the implementation of the deal discovered that the farms in Sulaibiya belong to the state and not the property
of X.Y.
The source added X.Y. acknowledged the contract he signed with the Qatari for the said property, including 14 agricultural plots – owned by state and leased to a company.
The source added the defendant said he has the authorization from the company that allows him to sell land and noted that the real estate could not be transferred in the name of the Qatari businessman because of financial claims and that he has no intention to cheat the Qatari.
Traffic cop run over:
An officer in the Ministry of Interior has surrendered himself to the security authorities after running over a traffic policeman
because the latter issued him a traffic citation, reports Al-Rai daily.
This happened when the victim stopped the motorist for violating a traffic law and after checking his ID he discovered that he is a Kuwaiti, officer working at the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences.
The daily added, as the traffic man was issuing the citation, the suspect started his car, hit the policeman and escaped.
The victim informed the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior and he was taken to the Adan Hospital by paramedics.
The daily added, as police looked for the suspect, he surrendered to the Mangaf Police Station three hours after the incident.
