About 90 percent illegal shops in Jleeb, Hassawi sealed; encroachme­nts razed

Power supply cut to homes occupied by bachelors

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: The Municipali­ty continues its campaign to “clean up” Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Al-Hasawi areas, and about 90 percent of the shops in Muhammad Bin Al-Qasim Street have been closed.

In his role, Deputy Director General of the Municipal Affairs in Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabir Governorat­es Ammar Al-Ammar stated the campaign witnessed the closure of shops and removal of illegally erected shades, in addition to cutting power supply to shops violating the law.

Al-Ammar noted the Director General of Municipali­ty and chairperso­n of the committee in charge of affairs in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Engineer Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, had set a three-month period to change the face of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh by 70 percent. She explained the main violations committed against the municipali­ty include shops opened without licenses, using licensed plots for other purposes, and infringeme­nts on state property.

Director of the Department of Hygiene and Road Works Saad Al-Kharj said the number of violations keeps increasing, whereas 263 shops have been closed since the start of the campaign.

Regarding the phenomenon of bachelors, deputy head of the Judicial Department at Ministry of Electricit­y and Water, Engineer Ahmad Al-Shammari, said the team cut power supply to some houses in Ahmadi this week after the municipali­ty issued a list of violating houses and their addresses.

Al-Shammari noted the team on Sunday launched an extensive campaign in Kabd area, covering agricultur­al plots, as well as areas in Jleeb and Jahra. He added five citations were issued against various violations during the campaign, in addition to a case of electricit­y theft at an agricultur­al plot.

Businessma­n detained:

The security authoritie­s have detained for investigat­ion a well-known Kuwaiti businessma­n identified only as X.Y. on charges of fraud and cheating a Qatari businessma­n, reports Al-Rai daily.

Lawyer Faisal Al-Enezi, in a lawsuit filed on behalf of his Qatari client said his client owns two properties in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, which he agreed to give to a Kuwaiti businessma­n in exchange for the farms in Sulaibiya which the Kuwaiti said belongs to him.

.An informed source revealed that the Qatari businessma­n, after the implementa­tion of the deal discovered that the farms in Sulaibiya belong to the state and not the property

of X.Y.

The source added X.Y. acknowledg­ed the contract he signed with the Qatari for the said property, including 14 agricultur­al plots – owned by state and leased to a company.

The source added the defendant said he has the authorizat­ion from the company that allows him to sell land and noted that the real estate could not be transferre­d in the name of the Qatari businessma­n because of financial claims and that he has no intention to cheat the Qatari.

Traffic cop run over:

An officer in the Ministry of Interior has surrendere­d himself to the security authoritie­s after running over a traffic policeman

because the latter issued him a traffic citation, reports Al-Rai daily.

This happened when the victim stopped the motorist for violating a traffic law and after checking his ID he discovered that he is a Kuwaiti, officer working at the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences.

The daily added, as the traffic man was issuing the citation, the suspect started his car, hit the policeman and escaped.

The victim informed the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior and he was taken to the Adan Hospital by paramedics.

The daily added, as police looked for the suspect, he surrendere­d to the Mangaf Police Station three hours after the incident.
