Salmiya Indian Model School holds Sports Day
Salmiya Indian Model School’s organized Sports Day at the Keifan stadium recently in frolicsome atmosphere as the venue bustled with various activities all day long – an important reminder that not only the winners but the participation counts.
The events were contested with a competitive spirit as the students got a chance to compete in athletic events to earn points for their respective houses.
The day began with invoking the blessings of the Almighty with the recital from the Holy Quran and a melodious prayer song by the school choir.
This was followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The occasion was graced by the Somalia Ambassador to Kuwait HE Abdullah Mohammad Odowa. The other dignitaries included SIMS owner Dr

The guests and the parents were accorded a warm welcome by Dr Ahmad. He insisted on upholding the spirit of sportsmanship which he said is a key to success.
The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by the well synchronized and crisp march past by the senior students.
The student council and the respective house captains led the student cohort with grace, confidence and pride.
Traditional athletic ceremonies like lighting the torch and oath taking ceremony, dictated by the sports captain Yunus Nasser added to the fervor and enthusiasm of the participants and the audience. The Chief Guest Ambassador Odowa declared the sports meet open with a release of balloons and words of encouragement.
The students from grade 1 to 12 took part in number of races like little red riding hood race, shuttle fun race and obstacle race for the primary section while the core athletic events included many 100 meter races and a mixed relay of 4x100 meters for the senior students.
