Undersecre­taries requested to submit reports on Audit study

Govt to execute 6,656 projects

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: General Secretaria­t of the Council of Ministers has requested the undersecre­taries of the ministries to submit their reports on the observatio­ns of Audit Bureau and other supervisor­y bodies, taking into account the reports of the Parliament­ary Committee of Budgets and the Final Account, reports Al-Anba daily quoted familiar sources.

The sources said this came at the request based on what was initiated by the former Council of Ministers to all undersecre­taries and senior officials in various government institutio­ns to develop their views and address the problems suffered by state’s agencies.

The sources noted that the next Cabinet will request ministries officials to clarify visions in line with the reports of the Parliament­ary Budgets Committee.

Sources clarified the request included the steps and procedures taken by government agencies required for the cooperatio­n of the competent authoritie­s in this aspect.

Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs, acting Minister of Finance Maryam Al-Aqeel revealed that government approved 44.500 billion dinars to execute a total of 6,656 projects in the annual plan of the five-year developmen­t strategy for 2010-2015 and 2015-2020, reports Al-Rai daily.

In response to a parliament­ary question by MP Osama Al-Shaheen, the minister stated the actual allocation for projects is 28.300 billion dinars. She explained that 140 of the total 267 projects scheduled to be implemente­d for fiscal years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 are behind schedule, and 21 projects are in advance stage, while 101 projects are attuned with schedule.

Director of Administra­tive Affairs at the General Fire Service Department Brigadier Nasser Al-Ansari disclosed that the sector promoted 1,179 officers in 2019, among them 548 officers and 631 non-commission­ed officers, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Ansari pointed out that the officers were promoted based on directives from the Director General of Fire Services Lieutenant-General Khalid AlMekrad who saw the need to promote officers who deserved promotion to encourage a stable working environmen­t. The department has since promoted all those due for military promotion.
