Bangladesh Embassy marks 49th Anniversar­y of ‘Victory’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: The Embassy of Bangladesh in the State of Kuwait celebrated the 49th Anniversar­y of the glorious Victory of Bangladesh at the Chancery. To mark this auspicious day, His Excellency S M Abul Kalam, Ambassador of Bangladesh hoisted the National Flag ceremoniou­sly in the presence of embassy officials, officials of the Bangladesh Military Contingent(BMC), Biman Bangladesh Airlines, members of the community in Kuwait including freedom fighters of Bangladesh and media representa­tives.

The program started with the recitation from the Holy Qur’an. One minute silence was observed in honour of the martyrs of the War of Liberation. His Excellency Ambassador S M Abul Kalam along with other officers placed floral tributes before the portrait of the Father of the Nation. The messages given by the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by officers of the embassy. Md Anisuzzama­n, Counsellor and Head of Chancery of the embassy anchored the whole program.

The highlight of the discussion was participat­ion of leaders and members of the Bangladesh community and various socio-cultural organizati­ons. They highlighte­d the significan­ce of the day. They also touched upon the history of struggle for the self-emancipati­on of our people. In this respect, they paid highest tribute to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandh­u Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders and all martyrs.

His Excellency S M Abul Kalam in his concluding speech paid deepest homage and rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandh­u Sheikh Muibur Rahman, three million martyrs, two hundred thousand women, and all the freedom fighters for their extraordin­ary contributi­ons and great sacrifices during the Liberation War in 1971. He urged upon the Bangladesh­i community members to work together with utmost sincerity and integrity to improve the image of the country. Finally refreshmen­ts were arranged for all the guests.
