KISR launches hunt for thief who stole various types of fish, spoiled research

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: The specialist­s at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) are conducting a comprehens­ive survey to count the types and numbers of fish that have been stolen by an unknown person at night during the weekend, reports Al-Rai daily.

The source explained KISR is taking legal measures to arrest the suspect who is said to have destroyed the researches which the institute had carried out over a long time. The legal representa­tive of the institute will register a case and provide the Ministry of Interior with the initial details of the loot, until the completion of the survey procedures for all the institute’s facilities to ensure no other scientific experiment­s have been tampered with.

A security source said that the KISR building in Salmiya is equipped with an advanced security device and there are surveillan­ce cameras distribute­d throughout the building, and that the Ministry of Interior has requested to provide it with all the CCTV footage of the surveillan­ce cameras.

The sources said police are expected to summon the building’s security guards for interrogat­ion.

This is in addition to the personnel from Criminal Evidences Department who are said to have lifted the fingerprin­ts from the area.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the KISR Dr Samira Al-Sayed Omar, said the incident of fish theft is in the hands of the Ministry of Interior to take the necessary measures.

She stressed the institute has not yet determined the quantity of the stolen fish, but said a full survey will be conducted by officials in this regard.

She was arrested after the CID men got a warrant from the Public Prosecutor and sent a secret agent to the ‘business manager’ and the latter agreed to get him a night with the Spanish woman.

At the appointed time police raided the place and arrested the manager and the woman and referred the fire. Investigat­ions have been launched to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, acting on informatio­n firemen rushed to a chalet in Bneider and put out fire, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to fire sources, no human casualties have been reported but the chalet was completely destroyed.

2 Saudis expelled:

The Ministry of the Interior has expelled two Saudis along with their vehicles because the vehicles violated the security and durability conditions and were used for ‘reckless’ driving, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the two young men have been blackliste­d to ensure they do not enter the country again with their vehicles.

A security source told the daily, the process of removing violating foreign vehicles from the country comes as a result of the prior coordinati­on between the General Administra­tion of Customs and the Ports Sector in the Ministry of Interior, in cooperatio­n between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of ‘expelled’ vehicles again.”

Asian hurt in fight:

An Asian expatriate

sustained injuries throughout his body during a quarrel with an Egyptian expatriate in Souk Al-Haramiya in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area.

According to sources, the Egyptian purchased some food items from the Asian seller. When he discovered that the food items were damaged, he tried to return the items to the seller but the latter refused.

This led to an argument between them which escalated into a fight during which the Egyptian hit the Asian repeatedly with an iron rod until the latter fell, bleeding profusely from his wounds.

He was taken to Farwaniya Hospital for treatment. A case will be registered after the medical report is issued.
