Kuwait equities in somber mood as bank shares drop

VIVA up 3 fils, Mashaer Holding closes flat

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: Kuwait Stock Market (Boursa) was in somber mood Monday as losers far outweighed the gainers as 166 million shares changed hands.

As the All Shares Index climbed the broader sentiment was cautious. The Premier Market lost 13.36 points to 6,814.96 points while the Main Market climbed 10.78 points to post 4,837.77 points. Over 166 million shares changed hands.

The National Bank of Kuwait lost 1 fil to 1.056 on back of over 4 million shares and the same case was with the Burgan Bank which traded over over 2.5 million shares. Mezzan Holding remained flat with 500 fils and Humansoft Holding surge 6 fils for a 3.080 reading. Zain remained motionless at 580 fils whereas Ooredoo gained 19 fils to wind up at 779 fils. Kuwait Telecommun­ications Co (VIVA) climbed 3 fils to 743 fils and Agility gained 5 fils after trading 1.7 million shares. The market opened firm and rose sharply in early trade.

Top gainer of the day, was Tijara which spiked 46.3 fils with 15.75 percent change and KAMCO finished with 92.5 fils for 8.75 percent to stand next. Al-Rai dipped 8.53 percent for 34.3 fils the deepest decliner of the day and KRE topped the volume 9.9 million shares.

Mirroring the day’s downtick, the losers outnumbere­d the winners. Forty-eight stocks advanced whereas 52 closed lower. Of the 126 counters 26 stocks remained unchanged.

A total of 7,424 deals worth 39 million dinars were transacted. The GBK remained unchanged at 290 fils and so did Zain which stood at 580 fils. KIB clipped fils. Boubyan Petrochemi­cal Co climbed 1 fil to 609 fils and Humansoft was up 6 fils at 3.080 fils.

Mabanee lost 2 fils for 1.1 million shares trades. Mezzan remained unchanged at 5 fils and Integrated took in 6 fils to post 536 fils. The AlMutahed clipped 3 fils to read 327 fils and Ninv and Kinv both were up 2 fils to read 133 and 140 fils respective­ly.

Noor was down 3 fils, while KAMCO climbed 7.3 fils as 227,619 shares traded hands. Jazeera Airways lost 5 fils to 1.090 fils and ALAFCO also lost 5 fils for a final reading of 270 fils. Mashaer Holding remained flat and ACICO lost 2 fils to 127 fils. Integrated was up 6 fils at 526 fils and Al Rai Media Group clipped 302 fils. Abyaar lost 0.2 fil and KGL Logistics lost 0.1 fil. Inovest trimmed 2 fils and Salbookh dialled 1 fil higher. KSHC lost 2.4 fils to 28.6 fils and

Sokouk took in 0.9 fil.

Muntazahat and Mashaer and Cattle remained flat with 60.9, 81 and 183 fils respective­ly. Al-Rai media lost 3.2 fils and SPEC 3.3. Ajwan climbed down 0.2 fil for 3.6 million shares traded.

In the banking sector, Gulf Bank closed flat and Kuwait Finance House and Burgan Bank clipped 1 fil. Boubyan Bank gained 1 fil to read 609 fils, while the Kuwait Internatio­nal Bank lost 2 fils.

FirstDubai spiked 7 fils, KBT remained flat, Manazel gained 0.2 and Mena lost 1 fil for a trade of 1.5 million shares. Marakez climbed 2 fils for 1.6 million shares trade and Cable climbed down 2 fils, Shipping lost 4 fils for a trade of 1.1 million shares.

PCEM remained flat and Kuwait Foundry Company spiked 7 fils for 374 fils.

Al-Aman remained flat as Kuwait and Middle East Financial Investment Company lost 31. fils, while Markaz climbed 0.9 fil while Securities holding lost equally to post 47 fils.
