Yemen hails Kuwait stand
ADEN, Dec 17, (KUNA): Yemeni Foreign Minister Mohammad AlHadrami hailed Kuwait’s efforts to create peace and stability in Yemen and the Arab World as part of its non-permanent membership at the UN Security Council (UNSC).
In a statement to KUNA, AlHadrami noted that Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by current Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, represented the Arab World greatly in key international events.
He also applauded the country’s continuous efforts to execute the articles of the GCC initiative for Yemen and the UNSC’s articles on Yemen’s stability, mainly Article No. 2216.
Moreover, the minister said Yemenis have deep appreciation for Kuwait’s humanitarian aid and funds for development projects in his country, under direct orders from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Meanwhile, he spoke of Kuwait’s role in hosting Yemeni dialogue, especially in 2016, to resolve the situation in the country, as well as taking part in the Saudi-led coalition for supporting Yemen’s legitimacy.
As for the humanitarian part, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is continuously delivering aid to people in need in Yemen, said Al-Hadrami. Kuwait was also one of the top countries funding the UN’s Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen, with the country providing over $227 million for 2019 alone.
Yemeni officials are meeting with their Kuwaiti counterparts on regular basis to discuss the recent developments in his country, said the minister.
