Amir urges

Al-Mutairi pointed out an old Twitter message posted by Dr Aseeri concurrently with the Arab Spring movements. In the message, she expressed support for the demonstrations that were ongoing in Bahrain at that time. She posted the slogan used by the demonstrators — “Bahrain is free ... Peninsula Shield Force is out”, praising the slogan and saying she cannot sleep because of the echo of the slogan’s melody in her ears.

The lawmaker said, following the appointment of a minister who said “Arab Peninsula Shield Force is out”, they have no options but to demand “either the minister of the Bahraini revolution or the Prime Minister is out”.

In this regard, MP Mohammad Barrak Al-Mutairi asked His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled to “defuse” the crisis before taking the oath.

He warned that he will submit a grilling if the new Minister of Social Affairs takes the oath, due to the exposure of Kuwait’s interest to danger.

Al-Mutairi said he wondered if His Highness the Prime Minister is interested in preserving the strategic relations between Kuwait and other Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

He asked why the minister was not questioned about that Twitter post just like the rest of the bloggers.

Also, MP Dr Adel Al-Damkhi said he wondered if the appointment of Dr Asseri as the Minister of Social Affairs represents a message from the new government to the Gulf and neighboring countries “in case it is confirmed that the minister had posted the Twitter message”.

He enquired if such a choice is in line with Kuwait’s policy that aims at dissolving disputes, asking, “What is the role of the Prime Minister in appointing the ministers? Did he study the history of the ministers or were they imposed on him?”

In addition, MP Osama Al-Shaheen said the selection of Dr Ghadeer Asseri as the Minister of Social Affairs, despite her public releases that violate the national unity and religious principles, is evocative and could represent a reason for dispute instead of cooperation.
