KUNA keen on bolstering media co-op with China: editor-in-chief
Al-Ali receives Chinese delegation
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19, (KUNA): Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) is keen on bolstering media cooperation with China to reflect the strong ties between the two countries, said KUNA’s Deputy Director General for the Editorial Sector and Editor-in-Chief Saad Al-Ali Thursday.
This statement came during Al-Ali’s reception of a delegation from the Bureau of West Asian and North African Affairs at the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Al-Ali affirmed that officials from Kuwait and China were willing to expand relations on various spheres through exchanging visits and expertise.
Within media, both countries are willing to coordinate on the media level, indicated Al-Ali who added that KUNA, through its policy of expanding its network of bureaus and correspondents, would soon open its official office in Beijing to follow up on all developments in China.
The senior KUNA official welcomed the Chinese delegation to the main headquarters of the agency, saying that the visit reflected China’s interest in bolstering media ties with Kuwait.
Al-Ali commended the rapid economic development of China and indicated that Kuwait and the Arab world were keen on exploring opportunities for mutual ventures. He affirmed that China was eager to get involved in the future Al-Harir (Silk) City project and the development of industrial areas in Kuwait.
On their part, the visiting delegation said that China was eager to develop relations with Kuwait, commending KUNA for its plans to open a bureau in Beijing.
The current visit reflects the strength of Chinese-Kuwaiti relations, indicated the delegation, adding that Kuwait was amongst the most important Arab partners in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The delegation said that in recent years, the relations between the two nations had witnessed great development thanks to the high-level visits undertaken by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah to China.
They added that a high-level Chinese delegation would visit Kuwait soon to discuss ways to bolster cooperation and to contribute to Kuwait Vision 2035.
The Chinese officials highlighted, during the reception, the achievements of China specifically after 70 years of communist rule, transforming the country to a highly developed nation.
After the reception, the Chinese delegation was briefed about the mission of KUNA and were accompanied on a tour of the agency’s headquarters.
