15,539 driving licenses renewed online

‘Darfur needs Security Council backing’

NEW YORK, Dec 19, (KUNA): Kuwait stressed its position of respecting sovereignt­y and independen­ce of Sudan, renewing commitment to the principle Charter of the UN on the Sovereignt­y of States.

This came during a speech by First Secretary in Kuwait’s permanent mission to the UN Jawaher Al-Sabah before the semi-annual report of the Internatio­nal Criminal Court (ICC) on Sudan.

In her speech, Al-Sabah said, “Sudan has entered a new era of freedom, peace and justice. The Darfur region, which has emerged from the conflict stage and started the peacebuild­ing, is an integral part of Sudan and requires cooperatio­n by the Security Council.”

This developmen­t in Sudan comes in accordance with the peace process reached with the Sudanese movements that must come first, from the compatibil­ity of the Sudanese and their national law, she added.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The traffic sector issued a report on the number of driving licenses that have so far been renewed online since the launch of the service on November 18, 2019, says a MoI press release.

According to a press release, the report stated that the total number of driving licenses renewed online as of December 17 is 15,539.

She indicated that the ICC’s decision on the former Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir did not have the support of internatio­nal organizati­ons to which Sudan belongs to such as the licenses, the one in Al-Kout Mall 3,905 licenses, in Capital Traffic Department 1,801 licenses, and in Hawally Traffic Department 872 licenses.

The report indicated that Ministry of Interior launched the online service for renewal of driving license through its website www.moi.gov.kw, adding that after completing the required procedures, the applicant can receive their licenses in the designated machines placed in the aforementi­oned strategic locations.

Al-Sabah said, “Kuwait, as the Arab member of the Council, reiterates the decision of the 22nd Arab Summit, which rejects the politiciza­tion of the principles of internatio­nal justice and its use in underminin­g the sovereignt­y, unity, and stability of states”.
