PAM worker, Syrian freed on 1,000 dinars bail each

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The Public Prosecutio­n has released on 1,000 dinars bail each an employee of the Public Authority of Manpower and a Syrian in the issue of a bribery case, reports Al-Rai daily.

Earlier it was reported that an employee from Public Authority of Manpower (Labor Inspection Department) has been allegedly receiving 1,000 dinars every month from the Syrian to turn a blind eye to the irregulari­ties. The employee was charged with accepting bribe and exploiting his job to help the Syrian violate the laws of the country.

According to the security sources, personnel from the department led by Colonel Sheikh Abdullah Al-Malik Al-Sabah received informatio­n about the violations committed by the Syrian who ran a company in partnershi­p with an unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti.

It was reported that the employee helped the Syrian bring into the country more than the quota allowed by the Public Authority for Manpower. The source added police investigat­ions revealed the Syrian was able to get okay for his illegal transactio­ns by transferri­ng the money into the account of the employee.

Complaint filed: A Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the police in the Ahmadi governorat­e accusing his brother-in-law of beating him as a result of which he suffered head injuries, reports Al-Rai daily.

This happened following difference­s between them. The man told police the suspect attacked him when he was in the diwaniya of his house.

A security source stated that “the suspect has been arrested and detained for interrogat­ion.”
