KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: GOLDEN STEERING WHEEL Award 2019 in Germany, COYOTE Automobile Award 2020 in France, AVT ACES* Award 2020 in the USA, no less than three prestigious awards in a row to recognize UPTIS** this year, the prototype puncture-proof tire developed by MICHELIN TYRES.

These prizes awarded respectively by the German press group Auto Bild, the European community Coyote and the American magazine Autonomous Vehicle Technology, are among the most prestigious in the automotive industry today.

They rewarded Michelin UPTIS in the innovation and tire of the year categories, highlighting its exceptional technological advances.

An innovative technology that eliminte any risk of punctures

Unveiled by MICHELIN TYRES last June at the “Movin’ On 2019” summit dedicated to sustainable mobility, Michelin UPTIS, the airless tire, represents a major innovation both in terms of safety and respect for the environment.

This prototype, with its innovative and revolutionary technology that eliminates any risk of punctures, offers considerable advantages helping car drivers feel more at ease; fleet owners and professional vehicle drivers optimize their business productivity; and everyone to considerably reduce the use of raw materials, which in turn reduces waste and promotes sustainable mobility.

Nearly 10 years of research recognized

These awards are the recognition of nearly ten years of research by Michelin teams.

The UPTIS prototype has already been the subject of more than 50 patents related to the design of its structure and its hightech materials.

It fully illustrates Michelin’s capacity for innovation to promote safer, more efficient, more accessible and environmentally friendly mobility.

These three prestigious awards are a great source of pride for Michelin’s men and women, they reward a major breakthrough innovation in the tire industry and demonstrate the relevance of Michelin’s efforts in terms of innovation and sustainable mobility, said Florent Menegaux, President of the Michelin Group

Michelin research and development

Michelin invests more than 600 million a year in R&D and employs 6,000 people to help develop new technologies and materials for safer, more efficient, more accessible and more environmentally-friendly mobility.
