‘Survival in fighting oppression’

‘Palestine on verge of losing identity’

- — Compiled by Zaki Taleb

“‘YOU are the best American president for Israel throughout its history’. This was said by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the American President Donald Trump recently,” columnist and deputy chairman of the Islamic Heritage Revival Society Dr Wael Al-Hassawi wrote for Al-Rai daily.

“As a matter of fact, Trump has given Israel everything that it hoped for and more. In this context, Jerusalem became the eternal capital of Israel during the reign of Trump and Palestinians will be given nothing or rather any part of this city.

“Add to this the Jewish settlements on the Palestinian lands will be considered as a right of the settlers and will be part and parcel of their property.

“The Syrian Golan Heights will also be an integral part of the land of Israel, and the Jordan Valley – which is the food basket for Palestine will be considered part of Israel and the latter will not surrender it.

“With regard to the Jewish nature of Palestine, this is something that has already been achieved and this fact is undeniable.

“Here we go back to the story of the promise of those who do not have the right to give to those who do not deserve, which was crowned by the Balfour Declaration (the pledge that had been issued on Nov 2nd, 1917) more than a hundred years ago by the then British foreign secretary Arthur James Balfour to the Zionist movement.

“Today, this pledge repeats itself under such a state of Arab/Islamic rupture, where such a state represents a golden opportunity for the nation foes to confiscate the remaining part of the Muslims their rights and dignity.

“In this context, we refer to the massacres being committed against the Muslim Rohingya minority and the Uighurs (Muslims) in China and against 200 million Muslims in India. In this context, we cite what was said by an Arab poet ‘He who is humiliated facilitates humiliation; because the dead do not feel the pain!’

“As for Trump’s promise to establish a Palestinian state in East Jerusalem, if the Palestinians abandon their stubbornness and agree to the peace plan, which he drew for them and including 50 billion dollars to them as a gift to build their state, this promise is similar to selling fish in water. For the Jews whom God cursed in the Quran cannot give the Palestinians something, especially as they fight with each other and stab each other.

“The big mistake that the Palestinians and their supporters from among the Arab countries is their insistence on a two-state solution and that East Jerusalem (with one for the Palestinians and one for Israel) with East Jerusalem as their (the Palestinians) capital where they had propounded such a solution motivated by their greediness to gain the satisfaction of the world in order to get the latter deal with them fairly.

“But the question here is, who had authorized the relevant Palestinians and their supporters to surrender the remaining part of Palestine in general and the West Jerusalem in particular? And does soliciting peace mean the foe represents the solution? With regard to the states which attended the ceremony that was held to sell Palestine, were actually partners in relinquishing Palestine and selling it to the Jews.

“However, the solution for the Palestinian crisis, should be comprehensive only and this can be realized by grooming a generation of Muslims that will be ready to hoist the banner of Jihad to expel the Jews from Palestine as Saladin, if we are committed to our dogma and our Jihad to defend our same.

“In this context, we cite what is mentioned in the Holy Quran in this connection which says ‘O ye who believe! Shall I lead you To a bargain that will save you from a grievous Chastisement? That ye believe in Allah And His Messenger, and that you strive (your utmost) in the cause of Allah with your wealth And your persons: That will be best for you If ye but knew, He will forgive you, Your sins And admit you To Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and the beautiful Mansions in Gardens Of Eternity that is indeed The Supreme Triumph.’

“And another (favor Will He bestow), which ye Do love, – help from Allah a speedy victory. So give the Glad Tidings To the Believers”.

“Yesterday, (Saturday) the Arab League (AL) Ministerial Council adopted a courageous stance when it announced at the conclusion of its meeting its rejection of the American-Israeli ‘deal of the century’, as it does not meet the minimum rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people and contradict the references to the peace process based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions,” columnist Abdurrahman Al-Awwad wrote for Al-Sabah daily. “However, this position, even if it was described by many analysts and politicians as not strong and not parallel with the enormity of the ‘deal of the century’, the same parties were considered influential and bear special significance after its issuance after the calls for normalization in the past period and the fog of Arab attitudes towards the ‘occupied entity’.

“As a matter of fact, the Ministerial Council of the Arab League has called on the American administration ‘to abide by the international terms of references for a fair, permanent and comprehensive peace process”.

“At the same time the Council has stressed on the centrality of the Palestinian Cause to the entire ummah.

“Apart from the above, the Ministerial Council has emphasized on the rights of the Palestinians and their sovereignty on all Palestinian lands that were occupied in 1967 including East Jerusalem as well as the air and maritime spaces along with the regional waters, natural resources and its frontiers with the neighboring states.

“However, all of the above would have never happened were it not for the solidarity, cooperation and the return to the atmospheres of agreement among the Arab states.

“In other words, this meeting has returned to the Arabs their rehabilitation and their unified decision, once again renewed hopes for the rise of this nation from its repression and the defense of its thorny issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause which dates back to 70 years.”

“Kuwait is not a corrupt country, but there are those who are fighting wars for violating public money, taking advantage of influence and power. If it were not for certain balances related to the political and social structures, these corrupt persons would not have found any opportunity to escape punishment”, Dahim Al-Qahtani wrote for Al-Qabas daily. “The real war that should be waged against the corrupt institutions should not be concentrated on the announcement made by the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority that an official here or there has been referred to the Public Prosecution, but the real war must begin with the enactment of strict laws that do not allow the corrupt, whether influential or government officials, to touch public funds.

‘The Corruption Perceptions Index, issued annually by Transparency International, made clear in its report on Kuwait for the year 2019 that it is seven places behind. This indicator is not subject to the government, the National Assembly or the influential people; therefore it is not possible to issue an unrealistic version of it.

“Therefore, every ministry and government agency as well as Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority must stop issuing statements that alleviate the impact of this delay in the Corruption Perceptions Index, and not compliment the Prime Minister with segmented data, because Kuwait is more important than everyone.

“The government will be very naïve if a committee is formed to improve the status of Kuwait in the Corruption Perceptions Index as it did in 2017. Therefore, what is more important than improving the image is taking actual steps to combat corruption - steps that were not taken by the government or the National Assembly, as the parties ignored necessary legislation and did not issue them.

“The statement issued by the former minister of Defense Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad in the case of the Army Fund, and the communication submitted by the current Defense Minister Sheikh Ahmed Mansour Al-Ahmad in the Eurofighter deal, are unprecedented measures. These communications must be the beginning of an official, popular and civil movement to rid Kuwait and its people of the dirty corruption through issuance of preventive legislation.

“The most important aspect of this is changing the electoral system to prevent corrupt people from reaching the National Assembly and putting in place an orderly decision to choose ministers. This is the best way for us to ensure that we are not surprised that its “protectors are its thieves”. Other legislation related to political and institutional reform must be issued.

“It is also required to develop the State Audit Bureau to have the authority to transfer confirmed violations to the Public Prosecution, as the bureau is currently just a lion without teeth.”

“The General Traffic Department issued a circular on the necessity of preserving the bottom part of the car registration book, which was usually removed while laminating the book to protect it against damage,” columnist, former MP and General Manager of Scope Satellite TV, Talal Al-Saeed wrote for AlSeyassah daily. ‘It is clear that after all these years they discovered the importance of this part of the book and the need to alert the importance of this part and after a short time, they will impose a fine on the one driver if the lower part is torn off. The biggest share of violations will be borne by ordinary Kuwaitis, while the expatriate will be safe, especially those who transport passengers in private vehicles with fake registration book and cars not road worthy.

“May God forgive you, the officials of the traffic department, you cite violations against us if the data is not clear, and we can do nothing against you when you provide us with unclear books because of poor printing, the use of outdated equipment, and the poor quality of the ink, as if the solution lies only in the bottom part of the car registration book.”

“No one denies that the phenomenon of divorce is very prevalent in our small society, even though the bond of marriage is with the husband, and if it was in the hands of the wife, what would happen? I think the divorce rate will be more because women are emotional, and in the heat of anger they would divorce their husbands,” columnist Mohammad AlOwaissi wrote for Al-Jarida daily. “A rational wife is the one who has the key to solving problems, and how to win the heart of her husband, whatever his nature, and I earlier wrote an article under the title ‘Road to the husband’s heart’, in which I mentioned the story of the wife who wanted her husband to love her more. So she went to a wise man and he asked her to bring a hair from the lion’s neck. After two months she managed to tame a lion, so if this smart wife could manage to tame the lion, can she not tame her husband? Is her husband fiercer and stronger than the lion?

“The wise, sober, affectionate, wise woman who fears her Lord can reach the heart of her husband in the shortest way. As for the narcissistic wife, her husband will never reach her heart, because it is ‘deadlocked’.”

“The great ball scorer Mohammad Fahad Al-Masoud ‘Abu Fahad’ passed away recently,” columnist

Saad Al- Houti wrote for Annahar daily. “The late Al-Masoud was one of the distinguished players considering his morals and relationships with the sportive event. He was the first Kuwaiti player who won and carried the Gulf Cup in the first championship in Bahrain.

“He was one of the rare football players distinguished for scoring goals from long distances. He was a model to the other players who preserved his name at every playing level.

“The late Mohammad Al-Masoud is considered the beginning of Gulf sports history, because he was the first player who ascended to the platform of coronation that the Kuwaiti football team achieved in the first Gulf championship.

“He was a bright star in Al-Qadsiya Club where he played. He was one of the brightest stars of Kuwaiti football team for many years. He was a historic scorer for Kuwaiti football.”
